Your Opportunity
The role of a Water Engineering Technologist is to work as a team member with CAD technicians, engineers and project managers in project teams of all sizes. You should be able to develop engineering designs that achieve stated design objectives, follow criteria and guidelines, and address project-specific complexities. You will perform a variety of tasks which may include modelling and design, calculations, field work, and design coordination with other disciplines. This entry-level position will suit an enthusiastic individual with ambitions to build a career as a technologist within a dynamic and growing team.
Your Key Responsibilities
Perform conveyance engineering, stormwater management and site design which may include engineering models and drawings, hydraulic system calculations, pipe design calculations, quantity calculations and cost estimating.
Understand and follow established design guidelines and standards.
Work directly in modelling and design software (primarily Autodesk Civil 3D) to develop design elements including conveyance alignments and profiles, site and stormwater management grading.
Review, interpret, summarize and evaluate existing information such as sewer inspection CCTV, as-built drawings, reports, and GIS databases.
Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, applications for regulatory agencies, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables.
Coordinate with CAD technicians for preparation of engineering drawings.
Carry out site visits to collect field data, then compile field notes and photographs.
File and manage all project related data.
Attend and assist in client, contractor, stakeholder, and regulatory agency meetings to gain a better understanding of client’s goals, project requirements, site assessments, key challenges, coordination.
Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent.
Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and perform other contract administration tasks including construction inspection services. "
