Job Title Math Instructor Job Description The Math Teacher will instruct a non-credit senior high math equivalency course for international students enrolled in the Year One Foundation Program (‘Program’) located at the University of Alberta. Key job responsibilities Reporting to the Program Director of the Year One Foundation Program, you will have responsibility for: Developing, delivering and maintaining course content, learning materials, and assessments for a face-to-face Math 30-1 equivalency course Delivering course content in a student-centred, outcomes-based approach Addressing individual student needs and concerns both in and outside the classroom as appropriate to educational and institutional guidelines Marking assessments promptly and providing comprehensive feedback Applying culturally competent classroom management strategies to maintain an effective in-person learning environment Working with the Kaplan Student Success team to monitor and support students’ wellbeing and academic performance Assist the Program Director in delivering excellent student outcomes. Minimum Qualifications Related bachelor’s degree is required Related instructional experience teaching at secondary or post-secondary levels A passion for teaching and mentoring Experience teaching diverse students and sensitive to the needs of international students Proficient in the use of learning technologies Excellent classroom management and instructional skills Familiarity with Alberta senior high math curriculum is required; Alberta Teaching Certificate is an asset Maintaining respectful and professional relationships with students and colleagues Must be authorized to work in Canada Once hired, must Be aware of who is the designated safeguarding Lead for Kaplan Languages Be aware of how to identify safeguarding concerns and how to appropriately respond to these Complete, in a timely fashion, any safeguarding training assigned to you Report any safeguarding concerns to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the school As a member of the school team, be responsible for all aspects of our students safeguarding and welfare in conjunction with the wider school and company management teams Must pass a criminal background check Location and start date You will be based on site with the Program, situated on the North Campus of the University of Alberta in Edmonton.
