Your role on our team: The Junior Financial Reporting Analyst is responsible for supporting the Financial Reporting Team in completing the financial, and management reports, and various analyses pertaining to entities within the Minto Group.
The Junior Financial Reporting Analyst will be highly motivated and expected to exhibit the highest attention to detail while working on various financial analysis and reporting deliverables. Other valued attributes include a strong work ethic, capacity to work independently, and consistent performance with a sense of urgency and commitment.
In this role, you will:
Work with the financial reporting team to ensure accurate and timely completion of all monthly, quarterly, and annual close procedures
Data entry and data manipulation
Assist with the preparation of financial reports and analysis
Assist with the preparation of financial statements and related disclosures using Workiva
Assist with survey completion and submissions to Statistics Canada
Assist with the continuous improvement of the financial close and reporting process; and
Responding to ad hoc financial queries and performing ad hoc duties, analysis, and special projects, as assigned
We would like you to have:
Experience:
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; specifically, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
Experience preparing financial statements and performing account reconciliations and/or financial analysis is an asset
Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (“IFRS”) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (“ASPE”) including conducting accounting research and analysis
Experience with SAP, BPC, Workiva and OneStream is considered an asset; and
Ability to grasp new technology tools
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Strong communication skills both verbal and written
Strong analytical skills with an attention to detail; this includes evaluating and recommending possible improvements
Ability to function efficiently under pressure in order to meet various deadlines
Ability to frequently transition between working independently and supporting team initiatives
Proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and other departments; this includes excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills; and
Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
