NATURE AND SCOPE
The Psychologist, in close collaboration with all members of the Student Affairs team and the Office of the Academic Dean, is responsible for offering students (individuals or groups) accessible, confidential, empathic assistance as they encounter issues of mental health, personal, social, or vocational concern. The Psychologists work together for mutual support and in the identification of project distribution.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Applies psychological theory and principles regarding behavior and mental processes
Uses psychological standardized, recognized tools, conducts interviews and makes clinical diagnosis
Conducts clinical assessments of individuals and groups to develop treatment plans to achieve more effective personal, social and vocational development and adjustment
Helps students to use their own resources in coping with a problem situation
Assists students in exploring career directions through a number of methods including testing, interest inventories, and personal counselling provides psychotherapy
In collaboration with the Associate Dean, Student Success, Academic Advisors and the Adapted Services Counselor, provides psychological services to students in need.
Refers students to other organizations such as community health services, social services centers or hospitals, if necessary, provides support and assistance to the College community in the event of a crisis or critical incident
Offers guidance and support to faculty members who are concerned about a student
Identifies, implements and evaluates appropriate topics and venues for psychoeducational programs related to vocational issues and mental health, based on student needs
Fulfills other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS
PhD Degree in Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology or equivalent
Membership in the Ordre des psychologues du Québec
Experience working with young adults
Experience with career counselling and psychoeducational programs is an asset
Experience developing outreach initiatives is an asset
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English and French
