Overview:
The Data Business Analyst is a detail-oriented problem-solver, a collaborative partner, and a translator between business and data. They play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making by gathering business requirements, validating data quality, and developing insights that guide company strategy. The ideal candidate blends technical fluency with business intuition and thrives in cross-functional environments.
This is a hybrid position based in Toronto.
What You’ll Do:
Business Insight & Strategy Support: Partner with stakeholders across departments to gather requirements and uncover opportunities to use data for business decision-making. Analyze trends and performance metrics, delivering actionable insights that inform product, operations, and strategic initiatives.
Data Visualization & Reporting: Design and maintain reports, and ad hoc analyses that support team and organizational goals. Develop intuitive data visualizations and narratives that drive clarity and engagement among stakeholders.
Operational Excellence: Identify opportunities to improve internal processes through better data usage. Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to support data infrastructure and maintain accuracy.
Data Quality & Documentation: Conduct data validation, support data quality initiatives, and contribute to internal documentation standards. Translate complex data findings into business friendly presentations and documentation.
Collaboration & Tools: Work closely with cross functional teams including product, engineering, and leadership. Leverage project management and collaboration tools such as JIRA and Confluence to track progress and priorities.
What You Have:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college/university with major / degree preference, as applicable
2+ years of experience in a data analyst, business analyst, or data business analyst role
Proficiency in SQL
Strong communication and storytelling skills, with an ability to craft insights into business narratives
Experience working on cross functional teams
Excellent documentation and presentation skills
Experience with JIRA, Confluence, or similar platforms
Understanding of data modeling principles or data quality best practices
Nice to Have:
Exposure to Databricks or other big data platforms
Familiarity with company-level datasets (e.g., firmographics, hierarchies, industry taxonomies) is a plus
Basic experience with Python or R for data analysis or automation
