Currently, our Equipment Performance Division has a temporary opportunity available for a First Line Manager, Maintenance. This position will manage safe, reliable and efficient maintenance based on current needs but may provide support to other areas across the business as required. On a shift or day basis, this role leads a team of maintenance personnel, contract staff and/or project/material management with oversight to coach work habits of personnel. You are responsible for the safe, effective execution of the work in accordance with approved procedures by acting as coach, facilitator, and supervisor, creating and sustaining a cooperative and supportive team environment. Core work includes developing recommendations for improvement in Maintenance plans and procedures, tools and techniques. While observing the maintenance function to ensure adherence to safety practices and work methods, provide effective support to the Manager in the planning, organization, administration, scheduling and execution of short and long term maintenance programs/unit outages. You will provide support and assistance to the Manager by making recommendations and developing Maintenance training, strategies, processes, and plans. This is a term position which may be for a period of up to 24 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario. More than 1 position may be available. Key Responsibilities: Lead a team of maintenance personnel and/or contract staff being responsible for the safe, effective execution of the work in accordance with approved procedures by acting as coach, facilitator, and supervisor, creating and sustaining a cooperative and supportive team environment Develop recommendations for improvement in Maintenance plans and procedures, tools and techniques Observe the maintenance function to ensure adherence to safety practices and work methods Provide effective support to the Manager in the planning, organization, administration, scheduling and execution of short and long term maintenance programs/unit outages Provide support and advice to the Manager in developing and maintaining Maintenance training, strategies, processes, programs and plans Ensure the safety of assigned staff Accountable for the output of assigned staff Sustain a team capable of producing required outputs by providing effective leadership in the following areas: Team Work Context Setting Planning Task Assignment Effectiveness Appraisal Induction and Coaching Development Performance Management Continuous Improvement Personal Effectiveness Knowledge and Skills: Knowledge of the standards and practices for the Conduct of Maintenance Extensive knowledge of maintenance procedures Leadership, management and observational skills Requires knowledge of control, mechanical or civil technology sufficient to understand the assembly, function, operations and mechanics of applicable equipment, systems, and materials Requires on-the-job experience, such as might be gained in a power plant, refinery or chemical plant, associated with the installation, operation and maintenance of same to become thoroughly familiar with assembly processes, testing and trouble-shooting procedures and maintenance, modification and repair techniques Requires familiarity with the use of manufacturers' equipment manuals and specifications to understand the operating characteristics of equipment and systems Requires maintenance experience to efficiently handle unplanned trouble-shooting activities through effective utilization of existing resources Requires sound practical experience to understand, coach and influence mixed services personnel through the phases of planning, organizing, scheduling and execution of maintenance work, and to motivate same to integrate their efforts and attain optimal work performance An ability to effectively troubleshooting technical challenges and make sound decisions. Experience working in Bruce Power or Energy Industry outage environment is an asset. Education and Experience: This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of Grade XII plus 2 years' further concentrated study (including trade certification) in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil or by having the equivalent level of education A period of over 6 years is considered necessary to gain this experience Are you ready for a change?
