Daily Operations
Directing the accurate, effective and efficient daily operations of the catering and dining center departments, including but not limited to, the duties and responsibilities outlined below:
Monitoring guest service standards and sequence of service in all areas to meet the diverse and unanticipated needs of the varying guests at SAIT
Assuming front line responsibility for providing guest recovery solutions, including responding to guest/client feedback via surveys, emails, and in-person
Setting an example for guest service expectations as embodied in their actions and behaviors at all times
Reviewing daily financial reports and pass-ons and ensuring audits and follow-up are completed in a timely manner
Attending all relevant daily, weekly and monthly internal and external meetings
Ensuring daily duties and checklists of the various areas are completed accurately and attentively
Communicating all important information to all appropriate departments and colleagues
Programming, maintaining, and efficiently utilizing software systems, including POS (Transact), PMS (Opera), Catertrax and all other applicable systems
Ensuring all necessary supplies and equipment are ordered and maintained
Ensuring cleanliness of the various locations of the operations are maintained
Sales
Cultivating relationships with SAIT faculty to grow Curated Catering presence and revenues
Ensuring menus provided are meeting the clients’ need for variation, customization, allergies and pricing through close communication with the culinary team
Attending all available opportunities for marketing of Curated Catering services across campus
Communicating ongoing developments, changes and client feedback with SAIT Commercial Services
Recruitment and Training
Maintaining staffing levels and schedules using accurate staffing guidelines based on business models and seasonal requirements
Hiring, training and ongoing coaching of all staff through an in-depth understanding of the requirements of each individual position
Managing the performance of all members of the teams through coaching, training, remediation and evaluations
Implementing training programs and providing ongoing feedback and on-the-spot coaching to continue to grow the bench strength of the various teams
Sharing product knowledge to improve service delivery
Fiduciary Responsibilities
Participating in the development of the operations revenue and expense budgets on an annual basis
Managing the above-mentioned budgets, ensuring controls are in place and utilized to meet all aspects of the budget, including but not limited to labor and expense controls, menu pricing and markups as well as special offers and discounts
Reviewing menu pricing and contracts based on current costs in an effort to maintain budgeted profit margins
Completing and presenting month-end reporting, providing all relevant information, successes and challenges to maintain and improve the outlets and in-room guest dining profitability
Liaising with Marketing regularly to ensure that all marketing opportunities and timelines are being actioned and met
Liaising with SAIT Commercial Services to ensure contract obligations are being met at all times
Performing all other assigned comparable or transient duties as needed that are within the domain of knowledge and skills required by the position description
Qualifications:
Proven experience in a managerial role within a dining or hospitality environment.
Strong team player with the ability to work independently.
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
Exceptional customer service and multitasking abilities.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Canva, and POS systems.
Marketing experience, including managing Instagram and creating digital assets (e.g., flyers).
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Ability to lead teams and drive continuous improvement.
