JOB SUMMARY Reporting to the Supervisor, Financial Reporting and Analysis, the Finance Officer - Financial Reporting is focused on the accounting and reporting functions and ensures that accounting practices and financial reporting are in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (‘GAAP’). The Finance Officer - Financial Reporting provides advice and direction to peers and others on accounting and financial reporting matters and helps support the accounting function. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and complete accurate and timely corporate reporting and performance measurement information to help the company meet its financial and statutory reporting requirements. Prepare periodic financial statements and operating reports as required by the Supervisor, Financial Reporting and Analysis and the Manager, Financial Reporting, for presentation to senior management. Prepare financial working papers. Coordinate the period-end close process. Provide input and assist in preparing annual report submissions. Maintain current knowledge of accounting principles and advise management and peers of changes, as appropriate. Provide functional support to the Manager, Accounting and the Manager, Corporate Financial Planning and Analysis in the area of corporate reporting and performance measurement. Assist in the design of financial business processes to ensure efficiency and proper controls. Be fully familiar with all Corporate policies and procedures as they relate to the position and observe the same. Perform other duties as required. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Post-secondary education in a related field, such as Business or Finance Professional Accounting designation (CPA) required Minimum five years’ financial reporting experience Experience and formal related training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements Thorough knowledge of utility financial procedures and generally accepted accounting principles Strong computer skills; proficient in the use of office productivity and collaboration tools, preferably G Suite Knowledge of JD Edwards, Insight and Workiva considered an asset Private sector experience considered an asset This is a management group opportunity and salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
