Oversee the daily execution of Transportation Operations within a geographic territory. Manages and maintains local carrier relationships with direct responsibility for managing carrier service performance for both AGI and WFS. Function as primary liaison with local DC Operations. Conduct analysis of transportation network to identify cost and service improvements.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties and responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
Build strong relationships with local and national carrier providers across multiple modes (Intermodal, LTL, TL, Parcel)
Hold carrier partners accountable to service goals, including on-time pickup/delivery and damage free shipments
Build strong relationships with AGI/WFS shipping locations assigned within regional territory including, Distribution Centers, Branch Network, Cross Dock Facilities, 3PL’s
Continually evaluate Time in Transit for both parcel and LTL network to ensure AGI/WFS is delivering the highest levels of service to our customers
Assist in the analysis of customized transportation solutions
Create, maintain and review all SOP/MOP’s associated to transportation activities within assigned territory
Conduct thorough analysis of existing transportation network to deliver cost and service improvements to the business (Review Tranzact Report WFS001)
Support implementation and ongoing publishing of key performance indicators.
Conduct or support regional request for proposal (RFP’s) in conjunction with Transportation Management
Submit APP’s cross dock invoice to Tranzact.
Review and Approve transportation invoices for payment (including Couriers Plus Invoices)
Coordinate quotes for transportation from the U.S on special orders
Review and Approve the Tranzact Client Resolution file.
Liaison for all Insurance inquiries and claims for WFS Fleet
Coordinate license plate renewals and U.S Truck registration with DOT (URC & FMCSA Registrations)
Submit Odometer readings through Ryder Glyde reporting for invoices. (Must be completed before month end)
Maintain Transportation folder in E: Drive
Conduct business reviews with senior leadership (internal/external) on carrier performance
Remain current on industry trends/news impacting transportation network and be seen as subject matter expert in field
Follow safety policies, procedures of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Transportation of Dangerous Goods Act, and WHMIS in the storage, handling and movement of product.
Perform other duties as assigned by Transportation Management.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
3-5 years in logistics, transportation, operations or supply chain related field, specific transportation-related experience will be an asset.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or other business related field and/or relevant combination of post-secondary education and work experience.
Experience in continuous improvement methodology/practices (Six Sigma, LEAN, Kaizen) would be an asset.
Strong experience with ERP, Transportation/Warehouse Management, freight payment and other supply chain related technology.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, Access dB and PowerPoint required.
Exposure to change management principles through prior work experience.
Highly effective communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with peers, supervisors and other areas of the business at all levels.
Project management experiences and familiarity with SAP an asset.
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities while delivering results
Strong analytical background, ability to work with large datasets and determine recommended course of action
Must be able to work well independently and with minimal supervision.
Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.
