Strathcona County is currently building a new Agricultural Event Centre named “The Pointe”. While this facility was primarily designed to accommodate agricultural events (horse/cattle/dog shows, etc.), it can also host all types of events (trade shows, markets, workshops, etc).
The Equipment Operator II (Pointe Operator) will use their skill and precision with operating heavy equipment to maintain top tier footing conditions. They will provide exceptional services to guests while ensuring the facility runs smoothly and efficiently. The Pointe Operator will operate various types of equipment and preform manual tasks while setting up and tearing down events, maintaining biosecurity standards, and keeping the venue spotless and safe. Coordinating with event hosts and handling equipment, the Operator will be an integral part of the success of every event.

Key Responsibilities:
Maintain footing conditions and facility setups per event specification
Complete general facility maintenance, cleaning and preventative maintenance
Support and assist the supervisory team to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the facility
Interact and build relationships with guests and other staff, provide options and solutions to guest requests
Provide a seamless and positive experience for clients
Respond to unpredictable and challenging situations including human first aid, animal emergencies, guest service issues, and building emergencies
Safely operate all heavy equipment (Large tractor with grooming implements, skid steers, boom lifts, etc.)
Perform regular inspections and fill out records for footing conditions, bio-sanitation protocols, equipment checks and building conditions
Communicate with other facility staff to ensure the facility is maintained and safe
Provide support to The Pointe Leadership team as the first line of field-level leadership supporting and mentoring staff
Qualifications and Skills:
High school diploma plus three years of related work experience
Post-secondary education is considered an asset
Experience coaching, mentoring and leading in a team environment
Equine, cattle or agricultural experience is considered an asset
Ability to safely navigate heavy equipment in tight spaces
Comprehensive understanding of footing and manipulation of natural footing
Understanding of building management systems and environmental controls
Ability to prioritize and delegate tasks
Excellent customer service skill and problem-solving ability
Conditions of Employment:
Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s licence and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
First Aid/CPR Certification
Ability to perform physical labour as part of the job duties and stand/walk for extended periods of time
Ability to work with exposure to large animals (horse, cattle, etc)
Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays
