Overview:
The Manager of Electronic Payments oversees the daily operations of the department, ensuring timely and accurate support for both external and internal members in areas such as draft and ACH processing, business ACH origination services, Faster Payments (Zelle, RTP, and FedNow), and payment-related fraud prevention.
This role is responsible for maintaining the quality and accuracy of all activities involved in departmental functions.
Additionally, the Manager is accountable for the successful execution of assigned process improvement initiatives and strategic projects.
A strong understanding of the regulations governing ACH and draft processing, faster payments, and other electronic payment solutions is essential.
The Manager is also responsible for performance management, including monitoring team performance, providing feedback, and supporting the development of team members.
The Manager also provides leadership and operational support within the department.
What You Will Do:
Manages the daily operations of the department, focusing on service quality and productivity. Adjusts team member schedules as needed to optimize resource allocation, ensuring the delivery of high-quality service and efficient performance.
Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and internal standards related to draft and ACH processing, ACH and Zelle disputes, business ACH origination, and other payment-related tasks. Stays current on regulatory and operational changes that impact these specific areas and ensures that all departmental and operational functions are aligned with the latest compliance standards and best practices.
Responsible for the completion of all departmental general ledger reconciliations, including those related to clearing and suspense accounts. This includes overseeing daily, weekly, and month-end reconciliation activities. The Manager works closely with team members to identify and resolve any discrepancies or out-of-balances, ensuring timely and accurate resolution.
Responsible for reporting reconciliation status and outstanding issues to upper management and escalating unresolved discrepancies or systemic concerns in accordance with established protocols.
Oversees key performance indicators (KPIs) and ensures that transaction volumes, error rates, SLAs and other relevant metrics are consistently tracked and reported. In the event of missedKPIs/concerns with KPIs, takes proactive action to identify the root causes, implement corrective measures, and ensure that performance targets are met. This includes collaborating with team members to address issues and drive continuous improvement.
Reviews and monitors monthly budget expenses to ensure that spending aligns with department forecasts. Any budget variances are thoroughly reviewed, and corrective actions are taken when necessary to ensure financial targets are met. Addresses discrepancies and ensures that all variances are properly accounted for and documented.
Drives and implements operational efficiencies within the department. This includes identifying areas for process improvement, developing strategies to streamline workflows, and ensuring that best practices are consistently followed. Works closely with the team to foster a culture of continuous improvement, aiming to enhance productivity, reduce costs, and optimize overall departmental performance.
Continuously monitors department performance to ensure that Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for Electronic Payments are met. If SLAs are not met, will take immediate corrective action, identify the root causes, and implement solutions to address issues while maintaining a high quality of service.
Responsible for data analytics, metrics, and reporting specific to ACH Board reporting, monthly team transactional reporting, and key performance indicators (KPIs). Ensures that all relevant data is collected, analyzed, and presented to meet ACH reporting requirements and performance standards.
Oversees vendor management to ensure continuous communication and collaboration with vendors. This includes staying informed about any platform changes, system upgrades, and vendor roadmap items. Maintains regular contact with vendors to address issues, discuss upcoming updates, and ensure that the services provided meet the department's needs and performance standards.
Leads and executes all special projects, driving departmental and organizational growth. This includes taking full responsibility for project planning, execution, and delivery to ensure alignment with departmental and organizational objectives.
Assesses team performance and driving accountability within the department which includes actively engaging in team member development by providing coaching, mentoring, and opportunities for growth. Factors in team member engagement to ensure a motivated and high-performing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration. Regular feedback is provided to team members to ensure alignment with departmental goals and to maintain a productive work environment.
Facilitates cross-training within the department to ensure that team members are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform a variety of tasks. This includes administering training programs, providing guidance, and fostering a culture of continuous learning to enhance team versatility and operational efficiency. Follows up with team members after training sessions to provide constructive feedback, assess progress, and identify areas for further development.
Requirements
What We Are Looking For:
Minimum of 8 years of similar or related work experience with at least 5 years specializing in Automated Clearing House (ACH) and Payments operations and a minimum of 3 years in a managerial role. Prior experience within credit unions, banks, or financial institutions is highly desirable.
High school diploma or equivalent. 4-year college degree preferred.
Accredited ACH Professional (AAP) certification or other payments-related certification (APRP, AFPP, etc.) required.
Deep expertise in ACH processing, Faster Payments, payment platforms, electronic funds transfers, and check clearing operations along with comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements.
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work seamlessly with cross-functional management teams to enhance member services and develop innovative solutions.
Proficient in designing, developing, and implementing policies and procedures that drive operational excellence.
Excellent interpersonal and management skills. Able to effectively manage and lead a team.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Good presentation skills. Ability to motivate influence, educate and advise others on matters of significance.

To provide greater transparency to candidates, we share base pay ranges for all our job postings regardless of State. We set standard pay ranges for all roles based on function and level of expertise, benchmarked against similar stage growth companies. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors including, skills, depth of work experience and relevant licenses/credentials, and may vary from the amounts listed below.
The base pay range for this position is: $94k-$116k annually
