POSITION FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Program Manager of Violence Prevention Programs, the Women's Support Worker (WSW) will provide intake, advocacy, outreach, and referral support to MOSAIC’s Violence Prevention Programs. The WSW will prioritize the safety of women and children and ensure that the support provided is sensitive to the social, cultural, linguistic, and economic values of women.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct services, including accepting referrals; conducting intake and assessment, providing counselling support and psychoeducation; developing and delivering workshops; providing information and advocacy support; and facilitating referrals as appropriate
Work collaboratively with other service providers within the agency and in the broader community
Complete required statistical and narrative reports in a timely and accurate manner
Participate in relevant training workshops and other professional development opportunities
Support the implementation and development of time-limited violence prevention projects as need arises
Participate in all required meetings
Maintain client records, document client information and activities in the agency database
Engage in program promotion
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor’s degree in Social Work or related field, or a combination of relevant· 4 to 5 years of experience working in the anti-violence sector as a frontline worker; immigration processes, housing, welfare, and legal aid, informed practices; community resources, programs and services.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High degree of self-awareness and commitment to self-care is an asset.
Proficiency with standard office equipment and software applications.
Good communication skills in verbal and written English language, additional languages an asset
Flexibility/adaptability
Experience in providing individual counselling support and group facilitation.
Knowledge about the dynamics of gender-based violence; anti-violence sector; trauma
Strong advocacy skills and knowledge about the justice systems and family law
HOURS: 21 hours per week, fixed-term contract until March 31, 2026
The successful candidate must be able to commute to our Boundary office location.
BENEFITS:
A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least 1 year in length and which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.
