Job Title: Intermediate Accountant
Location: Ottawa, ON (Hybrid)
Reports To: Corporate Controller
About the Role:
We’re a Canadian animation studio based in Ottawa, and we’re looking for a detail-oriented
Intermediate Accountant
to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Corporate Controller, you’ll play an integral role in supporting production-related financial reporting and day-to-day accounting operations. You'll work closely with our Payroll, Finance, and Production teams to ensure accurate reporting and drive process improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage monthly cash flow, accounts receivable/payable, and reconciliations
Record transactions and journal entries; assist with month-end and year-end closings
Maintain accounting databases and support project-based financial analysis
Perform payroll functions and administer employee benefits
Prepare and analyze reports using advanced Excel functions (e.g., Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP)
Assist with general accounting duties and special projects as needed
Contribute to process standardization and finance transformation efforts
Collaborate within the finance team and support cross-functional stakeholders
What We’re Looking For:
3–5 years of accounting experience
Proficient in
QuickBooks Desktop, including customizing reports and configurations
Advanced Excel skills and experience working with large data sets
Degree in Accounting; CPA designation in progress or completed is an asset
Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
Discreet, dependable, and detail-oriented
Must be an Ontario resident (for tax credit eligibility)
Able to work in-office on a hybrid basis (Ottawa)
Bonus Points For:
Project accounting experience in service, manufacturing, or construction
Experience with cost reporting, tracking, and budgeting
Background in public accounting or financial analysis with big data
