Our tailings team is looking for a Marine Advisor! This position is mainly field based overseeing the marine operations at our base plant location. Minimum Requirements: High School Diploma A valid 60 GRT Certificate of competency issued by Transport Canada Minimum of 5 years on water / marine experience Clean Drivers Abstract Previous leadership experience Preference will be given to candidates with a valid 150 GRT Certificate of competency issued by Transport Canada Responsibilities: Ensures compliance with Suncor’s policies, Marine Procedures and Daily Operating Orders Implements HSE policies and ensures a safe work area Leadership in the Marine areas, including our contractor peers Backfilling for the Marine Team lead as required Strong interpersonal & communications skills Conduct periodic audits/inspection to all Marine assets to ensure compliance with standard requirements and participates as necessary in Marine related incident investigations and risk reviews Operation of watercraft for personnel transfer Moving marine assets, such as dredges/Barges/Pipelines/booms/catwalk etc. Assist Avian response team when required Operation of watercraft to launch marine anchors such as Danforth anchor or static concrete block with chain and wire rope as per the engineered drawings and to assist pipeline crew to connect disconnect process line cradle to a dredge Transporting materials from dock to dredge or vice versa Pond survey/sampling programs assistance Manage ice free channel in winter months where applicable using ice capable boats Lifts in and out of marine assets into ponds using cranes Towing/pushing operation of another asset ie: Dredge and docking it in variable wind conditions Excellent understanding of watercraft’s stability, including lifting on water using onboard lifting device Transport trailable marine assets pond to pond Being a visible safety leader in the field to the contract marine workforce Maintain safety equipment on marine assets as per transport Canada's requirements Maintain required certificates and documents on all marine assets Ie: Certificate of registry, safe manning certificate, quadrennial inspection certificate, stability booklet, logbook Ensure safe access/egress is maintained on docks and boats for all the ponds for passengers and crew and necessary measures been taken to rectify any unsafe conditions including managing snow during winter months Location and Other Key Details: This position is located at our Baseplant location in Fort McMurray, AB This is a safety sensitive role You will work a 7 days on and 7 days off rotation Relocation to Fort McMurray is provided if you are from outside the region Why Suncor?
