Job Summary The primary duty of this position is to provide learning design and coordination support for funded projects within the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. The role involves exercising a high degree of collaboration with various stakeholders to gather input, initiate planning, and execute learning-design-focused project tasks and deliverables, as well as the ability to work independently within a given set of work parameters. This position works with staff in the Office of Educational Technology and Learning Designs (OETLD), faculty and staff in the Academic Portfolio, and other stakeholders supporting projects focused on education innovation (e.g., development of online learning activities). The candidate should have strong project management skills, foundational pedagogical knowledge aligned with adult learning principles and technical skills to work with relevant educational technologies, media production and software tools. Organizational Status Reports to the Manager, Educational Development, OETLD and works closely with the other members of the OETLD, the Continuing Pharmacy Professional Development (CPPD) unit, faculty, staff within the Academic Portfolio, and other Faculty/university units and external collaborators. Work Performed Oversees and supports the development of deliverables for educational projects with CPPD and the Manager, Educational Development, OETLD Creates online course materials for educational and learning design projects Develops materials and multimedia content Leverages UBC and Faculty supported tools for course design, including Canvas, Kaltura, Qualtrics, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Blogs, Wikis, Vyond, Articulate, Camtasia and other tools as appropriate. Leads environmental scans, conducts need assessments and assists in the evaluation of teaching and learning deliverables (e.g., learning technologies, hybrid learning) Provides advice to the educators and staff in the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences and others in external units on learning design issues that emerge throughout the project. Refers faculty members, as appropriate, to faculty-based teaching and learning support units, to the LT Hub, to CTLT, and/or to the IT Service Centre when needed. Conducts partnership-building activities with faculty members interested in incorporating technology-enabled learning in their classes through outreach, consultation, and training. Facilitates meetings with internal and external stakeholders to determine needs and solicit feedback to inform the development and implementation of the educational deliverables of projects (e.g., hybrid modules, online courses, assessment activities). Gathers feedback and incorporates it into educational deliverables for project team members, including student staff Oversees communications related to project milestones related to the educational deliverables Performs other duties as assigned Consequence of Error/Judgement The consequence of staff error could negatively impact the reputation of the Faculty for quality and reliability. Errors in judgment may result in the inefficient use of resources and loss of subsequent funding opportunities and may damage the image and reputation of the University, the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the OETLD, CPPD and any of the funded projects on which the individual is working. Supervision Received Works independently and collaboratively under the direction of the Manager, Educational Development, OETLD. Receives general instructions during orientation or changes in procedures. Work product will be subject to review in terms of quality and effectiveness in meeting educational/project goals. Supervision Given Manages the work of students as required. Minimum Qualifications University degree in a relevant discipline.
