Under the general direction of the Racing Secretary. Ensures adherence to the Company's policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and supports Great Canadian's learning environment while establishing a safe and welcoming work environment for all team members.
Key Accountabilities
Maintains cleanliness of the paddock entrance and areas
Care and control of numbered bibs
Hang required head numbers and stall number boards in paddock
Calean and care for Association tack
Provide support to runner positions as required
Liaises and communicates effectively with all appropriate operational departments
Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with all stakeholders (guests, ownership and team members)
Ensures compliance with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations
Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Education and Qualifications
Experience working with and around horses
Knowledge of operations and regulations pertaining to thoroughbred horse racing
Good organizational and interpersonal skills
Ability to work effectively without direct supervision
High level of honesty and integrity
Ability to obtain a gaming worker license
Work Environment Considerations
Regular barn and racetrack environment, standing and walking for long periods of time, and non-traditional work hours
