Location: Toronto-Beaver Creek, Canada (Hybrid)
In this position, you’ll be based in the Toronto – Beaver Creek Canada office for a minimum of three days a week, with the flexibility to work from home for some of your working week. We are looking for a highly analytical professional to join our Tax Team as a Tax Analyst in our Toronto- Beaver Creek office. This role is a full-time position, with the opportunity to work from home and in the office (three times a week).

A role you will love
As our Tax Analyst, you will be responsible for implementing methodologies that would maximize operating efficiency and effectiveness and facilitate tax compliance.
This will also include assisting in the formulation of tax policies and objectives by keeping abreast of industry practices, developments and their effects on the Company tax filing and compliance. Evaluate and implement cost savings strategies as well as review and analyze the process of tax compliance and reporting. Coordinate and lead all tax related projects and assist in the execution of overall NTU (National Taxation Unit) business plan.
Key Accountabilities:
Coordinate and conduct annual pretax season projects and process improvement projects
Ensure all amendment and cancellation reporting are accurate
Process and review tax refunds and adjustments for security holders and tax authorities
Manage curing documentation process received from participants
Maintain and support tax processes from multiple internal sources
Ensure all tax deadlines are met internally and externally
Audit and approve the annual electronic tax filings
Process reconciliation of tax filings processed to minimize government assessments and penalties
Lead testing on new or changed tax related system functionality
Responsible for reviewing, researching and analyzing all tax records and files for all tax-related payments made to security holders as well as claims received from IRS, CRA, and MRQ.
Coordinate complete production of accurate year-end tax reporting to security holders in accordance with client instructions
Ensure timely processing of all tax remittances is in strict adherence to regulatory deadlines
Investigate any discrepancies in a timely manner
Responsible for reviewing, researching and analyzing the impact of tax regulation related documents, such as publications, forms and guides
Maintain technical documentation and procedure manuals
Must be adaptable to the changing needs of the department, including working in a rotating shift schedule between 8:30 to 7:00 pm.
Available to work overtime during tax season (Jan-Apr)

Other key skills required for the role include:
Recent expert knowledge of tax compliance in income taxation and fiduciary tax returns.
A Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or finance.
Advanced knowledge of income taxation and related regulatory and legislative requirements.
Superior analytical skills with ability to work independently.
Well-organized and highly motivated team player and able to meet tight deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proven organizational skills.
Advanced computer knowledge and skills in the use of office tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Project, Visio, and XML.
Preferred:
Minimum of 3-6 years of progressively responsible administrative and /or supervisory experience in a financial institution, corporate trust, stock transfers or securities environment.
Background in income trust and mutual fund industry.
CGA, CA, CMA, CPA (Canadian Payroll Association) designation.
Broad knowledge of the Canadian Securities Industry, preferably from a Corporate Trust or Stock Transfer perspective.
