Discover TRIUMF, Canada's particle accelerator centre. We are a publicly funded, not-for-profit research lab that is a hub for discovery and innovation. Our mission is to serve as Canada’s particle accelerator centre. We advance isotope science and technology, both fundamental and applied. We collaborate across communities and disciplines, from nuclear and particle physics to the life and material sciences. We discover and innovate, inspire and educate, creating knowledge and opportunity for all. TRIUMF's diverse community of nearly 600 multidisciplinary researchers, engineers, technicians, tradespeople, staff, and students create a unique incubator for Canadian excellence, as well as a portal to premier global collaborations. Fueling innovation and improving lives, we are committed to accelerating discovery and shaping a better world. Our Safety Systems Group (SSG), situated within our Environmental Health and Safety Department (EH&S), is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and calibration of a wide variety of different types of radiation monitors and laboratory detectors, and for the specification, design, implementation and maintenance of TRIUMF’s Radiation Safety Systems, which protect personnel from radiation due to accelerator operation. In support of these activities we are currently accepting applications for an intermediate level Electronics / Instrumentation Technologist. In this role, you will participate in routine electronics maintenance and repair; inspect, install, test and calibrate radiation monitoring equipment; and perform some mechanical maintenance and installation. Specifc responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Participates in constructing, testing, installing and maintaining electronic and mechanical devices and interfaces associated with radiation monitoring, including air monitors Repairing and maintaining radiation monitoring and nuclear electronic equipment, including Gate and Portal monitors Collecting and calibrating portable radiation and contamination monitoring equipment Collaborating with other EH&S members in the evaluation and maintenance of hardware and software for gamma spectroscopy counting systems Collaborating with other SSG members in the specification and design of new radiation detectors and calibration of fixed radiation monitors Potential collaborating with other SSG members in some PLC design projects and software development You will also be required to successfully complete the TRIUMF in-house radiation safety training course and be designated as a TRIUMF Nuclear Energy Worker.
