The manager – Supply chain is responsible for promoting a business operation excellence culture by identifying, developing and implementing process/solutions/ initiatives in order to improve the entire supply chain. The role requires the individual to view all processes in a complete ‘business cycle’ context and have the organizational perspective necessary to gain buy-in from all stakeholders in deploying the recommended solution. Solutions will require a solid understanding of business processes/procedures, as well as the ability to identify and investigate other technology based tools and solutions. The Manager must possess the ability to analyze, design, test, implement and train to define or redefine business processes, which will enable the Region to achieve its business goals and maximize customer service. Key Responsibilities Promotes a strong safety and compliance culture correcting unsafe acts or conditions without delay. Assists and supports the operation teams to comply with Safety Management Systems in conjunction with the Regional Safety Department. Supports the locations on the execution of the Accident and Injury Reduction Plans consistent with Airgas Safety Council and Safecor guidelines. In collaboration with the VP Operations and Airgas cylinder operations, develop mid mid-long term roadmap for the Regional supply chain. This should encompass reliability and efficiency topics but also digitalization and AI. Benchmark process activities against other Divisional/Regional Company or outside entities to identify potential best practice opportunities. Work effectively with process/functional leaders to identify and develop business process improvement opportunities as part of Company-wide initiatives, the annual planning/budgeting process and on an on- going basis. Draft business case justification working with key stakeholders for presentation to management. Demonstrate financial acumen and ability to develop compelling business cases supporting recommended opportunities. Manage and lead all phases of the process improvement project life cycle including: project initiation, project development, project implementation in order to improve the supply chain and CX (namely but not exclusive OFR + New business). Maintains an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) Manual, Safety Management System, SAP processes and learning tools and all other tools. Provides support to the leaders in the Operations team to improve the understanding and effective use of these procedures and systems. Provides training and conducts audits on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Shares results with operations leaders as well as the regional President. Follow up by measuring progress at the locations and communicating with management. Supports efforts to ensure that new employees at the locations receive the appropriate training on systems, procedures, and processes. Coaches new supervisors/managers in their development, to achieve operational excellence Establish process metrics and measures for the entire supply chain through the process design, implementation and post implementation phase to ensure improvements deliver desired results and appropriate remediation actions can be identified and acted on quickly. Communicates with the Operations leaders leadership team regarding progress, obstacles, issues, and process improvement suggestions at the locations. Communicate with leadership when ineffective or poor processes are identified that are contributing to transaction inaccuracy or should be otherwise improved. May assist the leaders to improve transactional accuracy and ERP proficiency. Supports effective teamwork, communication and collaboration between the CEC, logistics teams, plants teams, and Sales leaders and associates. Conducts routine visits to locations to assist the VP and his or her direct reports by identifying and evaluating performance, safety compliance, inventory levels, SOP compliance, and training gaps. Required Education: Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: 10 years of progressive professional experience in Operations. Comprehensive understanding of supply chain (Production, distribution, etc). Experience successfully leveraging business analytics to inform decisions. Systematic problem solver focused on implementing solutions to solve root cause problems. Comfortable with out of the box thinking and challenging status quo. Strong ability to partner across a complex, decentralized organization and influence outcomes at all levels. Ability to communicate and deliver presentations with impact. Skilled in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook as well as a demonstrated ability to utilize financial applications within ERP software Ability to manage multiple priorities Exhibits customer focused behavior such as building positive relationship management and strives to understand customer’s needs, both internal and external. Ability to deal with difficult situations in a diplomatic and professional manner. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to adjust communication methods based on customer situations. Experience integrating new technologies into day-to-day operations. Vision, creativity and a quality mindset. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team atmosphere. Effectively coach and mentor in a one-to-one environment, in-person and remotely.
