How You Will Contribute: Depending on candidate experience and the needs of the team, the responsibilities may include: hands-on lab measurement work with optical and RF devices, computer programming for measurement automation, modeling and simulation of electro-optic devices/subsystems, and other design and technical documentation work. The role offers exposure to a wide range of cutting-edge optical and high-speed RF technologies in a world-class R&D lab environment. Electro-optic device modeling and lab characterization Electro-optic subsystem design and specification Computer programming in Matlab for simulation and test automation Technical documentation Maintaining close communication with firmware, PCB and DSP design teams; communicating with electro-optic component vendors. The Must Haves: Computer programming experience e.g. Python, Java, C/C++/C#, Matlab Proficiency with desktop applications e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills Assets: Hands-on hardware lab experience with test equipment, electronics, optical devices, fiber optics Experience with software tools (e.g. Matlab, Labview) for simulation and test automation Experience with RF and electro-optic test methods and lab equipment Knowledge of fiber optic communications theory Knowledge of DSP theory Working toward a Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Physics, Applied Math, or related discipline Pay Range: The hourly pay range for this position is $24.50-$33.00 Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business.
