Shell’s Trading and Supply Products business encompasses all activities from the off-take and purchase of fuel components and products to delivering finished products to multiple fuels marketing channels. Commercial Fuels within Trading and Supply is responsible for the wholesaling of gasoline and diesel to customers and distributors across Canada. The Commercial Fuels Demand Analyst is responsible for accurate demand forecasting across Canada and collects, collates, and analyzes demand data and market trends to produce business insights for use by Trading and Supply Products. This position plays a key role in interfacing with external customers as the customer focal point for price risk programs and external digital portals. Accountabilities: Manage in-month demand – Responsible for demand forecasting accuracy and reporting Operate the demand management tool, produce demand analysis and forecast, and provide business insight on trend analysis via Power BI. Drive demand forecast continuous improvement by: Evaluate planned performance against Latest Estimate projection Analyze various reports and interfacing with Key Account Manager’s to identify root cause factors for over/under lifts Maintain forecast accuracy and support quarterly business reviews alongside the Key Account Managers Develop long-term forecast planning - create short and medium-term (30/60 day to 1 year) Commercial Fuel Demand Forecasts of volumes by product/locations Analyze volume allocations – calculate, implement, and manage Commercial Fuels’ volume allocations via the 3rd party digital planning tool Manage Global Product Overrides using the planning tool (monitor, and approve/reject volume requests for customers) Facilitate volume opportunity identification from the Commercial Fuels team through internal analysis and decision points Track and gather insight from Commercial Fuels, providing commentary and data as needed Execute the Commercial Fuels Risk Management program, interfacing with customers and Shell Trading Desks to ensure Risk Management deals are actioned and managed through to fruition Manage ongoing digital tools, ensuring the Power BI Dashboard is updated and maintained Lead broader business focal for Commercial Fuels demand data reporting and analysis – attending daily/weekly/monthly meetings and providing commentary on changes and updates to forecasts (refinery production updates, Operations meetings, Handshake) Monitor the additional customer volume requests inbox to understand potential/missed opportunities Log supply disruptions, market pricing, and anomalies that impact actual volumes vs. planned in month Report Joint Venture (Shell Flying J) monthly updates to the business, updating and maintaining dashboards What you bring Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Supply Chain, or Oil and Gas At least 3 years’ experience in supply chain management or marketing Knowledge Canadian oil products Experience in demand forecasting Experience working with Oil Products Supply and/or Distribution is a plus Experience in customer-facing roles and project management Proficient in Microsoft excel Power BI, and Web Editor Must be willing to provide flexible customer support, which includes occasional after-hours assistance and emergency support outside of regular 8-5pm business hours, including weekends if needed Must be willing to work three (3) days a week from The Bow office If you don’t see yourself fully reflected in every job requirement listed in the posting above, we still encourage you to reach out and apply.
