The Simulator Trainer – Plant Operations will support strategies to manage competency for Oil Sands Operations personnel in an efficient and effective way. The role includes being the main interface with Process Plant Operations, actively working with hands on workers through the delivery of competency management programs and courses by transferring knowledge; reporting, stewardship, monitoring, record-keeping and archiving of training and development related information; and ongoing alignment with other peer groups at Upstream Fixed Plants and Suncor corporate. Minimum Requirements: University degree, Equivalent college, or Trade; accreditation and appropriate experience Experience in plant process operation and production equipment is an asset Understanding of basic DCS process control systems. Knowledge of control Systems like Foxboro, Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, TRICONEX and control systems is an asset Understanding of industrial operations practices, including working with Regulatory Body(s) Attention to detail and a commitment to consistency and quality Ability to work with minimal supervision Ability to respond to challenging deadlines Demonstrate effective communication skills Key Accountabilities: Lead Training Sessions: Conduct simulator training sessions to build and improve technical skills, decision-making, crisis management, and panel operations competency Design and implement new training scenarios on the simulator Operate and Maintain Simulation Equipment: Ensure proper setup, troubleshooting, updates, and maintenance of simulation software and hardware Supports maintaining Operator Training Simulators (OTS) by addressing system issues, ensure system health check and system backup Maintain Training Records: Manage documentation, training progress, and compliance records in Suncor’s LMS Manage Simulator Updates and Testing: Assists to develop and review Statement of work (SOW) or work scope for new simulator models Defines detailed Operator Training Simulator Technical requirement during project kick-off meeting with Vendor Reviews and approves training simulator deliverables by participating in system acceptance test viz. Model Acceptance/Validation Test, Factory Acceptance Test, Site Acceptance Test and project documents Develop and manage technical training programs, ensuring panel technicians meet competency requirements Periodic review of task inventories to ensure training solutions are in place to support competencies Continuously improve training materials based on operational insights from shutdowns, startups, and new knowledge Track, measure, and refine OTS program effectiveness and job competence profiles Plan and oversee refresher programs for panel technicians Review and validate training documentation for accuracy and relevance Assess operators during training, offering feedback to candidates, supervisors, and management Location & other key details You will work out of Base Plant in Fort McMurray, Alberta The shift schedule will be a 4 days on/5days off, 5 days on/4 days off, 5 days on/5days off rotation Our professional roles will follow internal compensation guidelines, and the pay band will generally be based years of experience and scope of work Why Suncor?
