Egg Farmers of Canada (EFC) is seeking a Research and Knowledge Mobilization Officer to join the Corporate and Public Affairs team in a fast-paced, challenging, and exciting work environment. The ideal candidate for this position will have 3 to 5 years of experience in science, communications or a relevant field. Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate and Public Affairs, the Research and Knowledge Mobilization Officer is responsible for managing EFC’s knowledge transfer initiatives and Research Chair Network. They will nurture relationships with researchers and various stakeholders to support in the continuous development of knowledge and insights that aid in the growth of the Canadian egg industry. This role is well suited for a strong communicator who can interpret complex, scientific information and translate it into digestible, non-technical language.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Liaise with researchers and stakeholders primarily at academic institutions across Canada.
Lead the development of MOUs, research contracts and other agreements with relevant stakeholders on behalf of EFC.
Encourage exploration and discovery that accords with the strategic objectives of our business plan.
Maintain a network amongst our research chairs, their students and other relevant stakeholders.
Leverage domestic and international partnerships to uncover new information and knowledge of use to Canadian egg farmers.
Draft and prepare products to increase knowledge mobilization of the research EFC for a reach of strategic audiences.
Participating as an active member of several research networks, representing the interests of EFC.
Develop communications tools that enable the practical applications of research results in collaboration with Operations Department.
Support the facilitation of EFC’s national Women in the Egg Industry program and alumni network.
Support the Corporate and Public Affairs Unit on a range of relevant files, including sustainability, innovation and government relations.
Domestic travel is required.
Qualifications and Skills:
Demonstrated excellent communications skills in writing and presenting
Facilitation and public speaking skills
Business development and relationship building capacity
Experience communicating scientific information in accessible language
Experience negotiating contracts, MOUs and agreements
Ability to think strategically about research and investments in knowledge generation
Exceptional project management skills with the ability to multi-task, take initiative and be results-oriented
Excellent software applications skills (e.g. Microsoft Office)
Education and Experience:
Undergraduate degree in science, communications or a relevant field.
3 to 5 years or more years of relevant work experience.
