This role is accountable for the end-to-end design and development of Business Intelligence (BI) solution and data analytics that support CPG’s strategic goals and promote a data-driven culture. Combining strong application development skills—particularly within the Microsoft Power Platform—with advanced capabilities in dashboard design, complex visual storytelling and data modeling, this role translates business needs into scalable, user-centric BI tools. A customer-focused and consultative approach is essential to ensure solutions are aligned with business needs, continuously improved based on feedback, and support informed decision-making at all levels of the organization. This position reports to the Manager, BI Performance & Analytics.
What will I be doing?
Partner with business units to gather, understand and translate complex business requirements into actionable and scalable architectural solution designs.
Develop and test BI prototypes, proof of concepts, pilots and production builds for business improvement plans and business cases that aim to understand and improve on the performance and success metrics through the analysis, processing and reporting of data that is collected through business processes and systems.
Lead the design, development, and continuous enhancement of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions using Microsoft Power Platform (Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate), Microsoft Fabric, and other BI tools to support strategic and operational goals through scalable, cloud-based analytics solutions.
Optimize BI solution design through data profiling and architecture review. Perform data preparation, including cleansing, transformation, staging, and aggregation, to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and readiness for reporting. Design and deliver insightful visualizations and interactive reports tailored to business needs.
Identify and resolve BI product performance bottlenecks such as slow load times, inefficient queries, and inaccurate insights. Apply best practices in DAX code optimization, Power Query performance tuning, and semantic model design to streamline calculations and improve responsiveness and efficiency.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical design documentation for BI solutions. Maintain clean and well-organized workspaces, proactively addressing technical debt and ensuring alignment with governance standards. Apply best practices for report storage, retention, and cataloging, including version control and archival strategies.
Explore and apply advanced analytics techniques, including forecasting, predictive modeling, and machine learning to support data-driven innovation and operational intelligence.
Proactively stay current with evolving trends in Business Intelligence, data platforms, and analytics technologies to continuously advance the team’s technical capabilities. Evaluate and implement emerging tools, methodologies, and best practices to drive innovation, scalability, and efficiency in BI solution delivery.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Completion of a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related STEM discipline — or an equivalent combination of education, training, and professional experience.
Demonstrated experience in Business Intelligence, data analytics, data engineering, or data science. Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end enterprise-level BI solution design and development.
Proficiency in applying BI data orchestration to support CPG’s centralized data repository, a strong understanding of data platform architecture principles, and familiarity with cloud infrastructure (e.g., MS Fabric, Power Platform)
In-depth understanding of database management systems, data modeling, cloud data storage/retention, analytical processing, and ETL/ELT (Extract, transform, load/Extract, load, transform) framework
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex BI issues, analyze root causes, and optimize performance across data models, reports, and queries.
Strong Agile delivery skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives concurrently while maintaining a high standard of quality and collaboration.
Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking capabilities, combined with a proactive mindset and continuous improvement orientation.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to craft and deliver high-impact presentations to diverse audiences, including senior leadership.
