With a strong focus on interdisciplinary work, the position will involve supporting the Advanced BioImaging Facility (ABIF) imaging scientists in general facility operations, microscope maintenance, one-on-one training of facility users and support for logistics and teaching microscopy courses and workshops. Training and Education: Perform one-on-one training of users on widefield and confocal laser scanning microscopes. Development and refinement of hands-on in silico training solution for the ABIF equipment. Facility Operations Coordination: Perform general administrative functions, such as Area Access Manager, ordering, managing service calls and emails, generating reports, financial transactions and event and course organization. Grant and manuscript writing: Write and assist in the writing of fund applications and scientific publications. Qualifications: Doctoral degree or equivalent degree, and at least five (5) years of research experience. Hands-on and theory experience with light microscopy. Familiarity with imaging and image analysis software: ImageJ, Imaris, LASAF, ZEN. Experience working in a dynamic environment. Must be able to manage a diverse set of obligations on a daily basis with rapidly changing demands and priorities. Strong interpersonal skills for working with facility users, principal investigators and potential new clients within the research community. Demonstrated attention to details and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate complex ideas to people new to the field. Ability to work independently and efficiently but also work well as a part of a team. Strong verbal and written communication in English. Strong verbal and written communication in French would be an asset.
