About the Role
Bethany is currently accepting applications for a candidate to join us in a paid, 8-week summer position in The IT department. The successful candidate will earn a salary of $18.00/hour and work 35 hours per week.
You will report to the Manager, Infrastructure and Technology and will be responsible for a range of duties. You will learn about Bethany’s philosophy and processes and what it’s like to work with residents on a one-on-one basis. Your main priority will be to assist in enhancing the resident’s quality of life.
Some of these duties will include:
• Providing support for users of the LAN/WAN environment
• Responding to and monitoring progress status on all requests for assistance, and
• Logging all call activity into the Call Tracking System and maintaining accurate records to conduct statistical reports.
• Individual responsibilities will fall under the following main areas of focus:
• Provide expertise, assistance and advice when supporting desktop, network, printing, and business application related issues with the highest level of exemplary customer service. When required, escalate complex situations to relevant experts with accompanying diagnostic information
• Respond to first level requests for assistance (hardware, software, networks, training, installations, relocations, access, security, performance etc.)
• Monitor progress on problem resolution and inform users regarding completion status
• Elicit additional information for diagnosis, research in support of problem identification and resolution
• Ensure proper documentation is created and maintained to support daily IT operations. Including the logging of all issues and call activity into the Support Desk Tracking system
• Maintain an inventory of all installed hardware and software
• Train users on applications on an ad hoc basis
What You Bring
• Experience in Computer Science or Informational Technology related program at a post-secondary institution,
• Ability to handle confidential information in a professional manner at all times
• Ability to forecast, plan, and prioritize competing demands
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, analytical thinking, and interpersonal skills
• ability to work and communicate effectively in a team environment, and alongside a variety of departments, managerial levels, and key IT vendors
• Proficient in hardware troubleshooting and repair including desktop computers, laptops, printers, and tablets
• Working knowledge of IT best practices and change management methodologies
