Job Summary:
The Paediatric Medicine Clinic is comprised of 14 paediatric sub specialty clinics that include Emergency Department Follow up, Paediatric Urgent Referral Clinic, Respirology, Rheumatology, Cardiology, Asthma, General Paediatrics, Endocrinology, Paediatric Complex Care, and Neonatal Follow up, Dietary, Diagnostic / Procedural Sedation and seasonal RSV clinic.
Position Summary:
Facilitates clinic activities by providing personal and individualized care to children and their families
Assesses and evaluates patient condition and communicates pertinent information to physician and other health care providers
Procedural Sedation RN for MRI, ECHO and BOTOX
Patient assessment, preforms nursing procedures, prepares and evaluates patient teaching material
Administers medications including intramuscular, subcutaneous, oral, topical and inhaled
Responds to patient care emergencies,
Understands and is familiar with medications for sedation used in diagnostic imaging and procedures.
Provides open line of communication between physician, patient, unit and parents
Key Qualifications:
3 plus years’ current paediatrics nursing experience; familiar with childhood diseases and treatments required
Experience with complex care children, neonatal population, and developmental milestones required
PALS required
Ability to use and operate equipment for monitoring and administering PO/Intranasal/IV sedation medications
Ability to think critically to prioritize needs in emergency situations
Demonstrated leadership skills combined with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
Demonstrated maturity, judgment, initiative, proficiency and prioritization skills in the delivery of patient care
Reliable and flexible individual to work as part of a diverse work team
Positive attendance and work record essential
