There are two positions available. JOB DESCRIPTION CBC’s Entertainment, Factual and Sports unit is looking for a skilled and dynamic YouTube Video Producer to help grow CBC’s YouTube presence. One role will primarily work on the main CBC YouTube channel and another role will be focused on the CBC Music YouTube channel. Both roles will have the opportunity to assist other entertainment YouTube channels as required. The Video Producer will conceptualize, edit and produce long, mid- and short-form YouTube videos to be published on the main CBC channel and other relevant CBC YouTube channels. The position is also responsible for re-versioning relevant videos from other platforms (g. TikTok and Instagram vertical video) for YouTube Shorts. The role primarily focuses on the producing and editing of YouTube videos, but the ability to shoot and package high-quality video is a strong asset. The Video Producer will also work on other areas of maintaining the YouTube channels, with the key roles and responsibilities listed below. The successful candidate will have a high fluency in the YouTube mediascape, including a deep understanding of audience, format, packaging and distribution trends and best practices on the platform. They must also have strong storytelling skills that translate into the YouTube space. For instance if you must understand the importance of thumbnails, what a hook is, or how to retain an audience within a video. The role will require the successful candidate to work during some weekends or evenings. KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Create YouTube video content: Gather, capture, edit and manipulate content. Encode and upload videos. Create, maintain, or contribute to channel publishing schedules and calendars. Book facilities and equipment required for production. Create and package YouTube Shorts from other vertical video platforms. Liaise with relevant stakeholders in video delivery, QA and acceptance processes, and transcribers to manage caption workflow. Develop video content, including researching, interviewing, writing and/or editing of material. Determine the style, pace, tempo and format of the videos. Decide which elements should be included in a video, their order, length, sequence and transitions. Stay on top of YouTube analytics every day to assess and establish trends in audience viewing and modify the approach accordingly. Liaise with various co-ordinating, digital producers, and programming stakeholders. Recommend and implement video SEO and YouTube best practices. Participates in the preparation of team objectives. Executes against strategic, audience development and revenue opportunities. Share best practices. Assist with Content ID and YouTube monetization policies as required. Other duties as required, including performing the function or duties of an equivalent or lower classification. QUALIFICATIONS Requires university degree plus five years’ experience of which three must involve work in media or a closely related industry involving professional video production. Must have proven and demonstrated experience creating high-quality video segments for YouTube and experience editing and optimizing social videos. Must have proven and demonstrated experience within the social video and YouTube landscapes Must have knowledge and experience of best practices, tools and processes for publishing original online video and repurposing audio/video content. Including Advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite - specifically Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects and Photoshop or equivalent software. Technical knowledge on how to use YouTube Studio and Content ID Knowledge and interest in CBC Gem and/or CBC Music programming is an asset.
