You will be responsible for executing engineering and administrative aspects of our commercial Landing Gear programs, providing strong technical and administrative leadership, interacting directly with the customer in supporting the project engineering team. In this position you will be reporting to the Associate Director Project Engineering. As the Project Engineer lead for Airbus A380-800 WLG and BLG programs, you will be the primary focal and responsible for the configuration management for landing gear parts and assemblies for the Airbus programs. This position works onsite in Oakville site - ON Relocation assistance will not be provided What You Will Do Provide strong technical leadership for all aspects of the programs assigned while working with the following entities: Value Stream Leader to ensure that projects are properly managed to achieve project delivery in accordance with project plans (including schedule and cost) Integrated Product Team (IPT) to ensure Engineering integration into overall program requirements Divisional Engineering teams to ensure that Engineering integrity is achieved, Engineering procedures are complied, lessons learned are addressed and a robust trouble-free product is developed Managing and developing engineering team Manage program Engineering activities including the following: Ensure the highest level of integrity while performing duties Develop and take accountability for Engineering activities (including schedule and cost) and harmonize priorities and objectives with Engineering, Original Equipment (OE) and Aftermarket Value Streams, Operations and Supply Chain Foster strong customer relationships through accountability, transparency and credibility Set Engineering team priorities and objectives with a strong drive to meet expectations Liaise with internal and external customers and suppliers for all program related issues Communicate progress and roadblocks with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) and Engineering Management Provide Engineering support to all functional group on an as-needed basis within the company Support customer requests such as redesigns/product improvements based on life cycle data (wear issues, failures, cost reduction, product improvements, etc.) Ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of problems Utilize Collins Management System (CMS) and Customer Oriented Results and Excellence (CORE) operating system to facilitate program execution and continuous improvement Proactively participate in and support Engineering Corrective Action Board (eCAB), Product Safety Integrity Committee (PSIC), Product Safety Board (PSB) and internal/customer audits Initiate product review and changes as required by developing and maintaining the product to customer requirements, coordinate activities internally and externally Review customer generated documents and coordinate with the customer, as necessary, to make corrections Review change requests for producibility issues, drawing clarifications, and cost reduction Support the change board function to ensure proper and timely change incorporation Support the customer and/or government representatives as needed Review contracts for technical content and ensure adherence to contractual requirements Submit technical data to the customer for approval/acceptance per contractual requirements Perform/lead/facilitates Engineering investigations into failures and leads/participates in Root Cause and Corrective Action Supports the change board function to ensure proper and timely change incorporation Supports the customer and/or government representatives as needed Leading people: Develop indirect reports and support development of their individual/career development plans Provide performance feedback reviews & provide recommendations for compensation/merit Provide guidance to the engineering team relative to overall program schedule and budget Compliance: Ensure compliance with LG Engineering methodologies Ensure compliance with all ethics and EH&S policies and guidelines and conduct themselves in an ethical manner Maintain compliance to customer and regulatory requirements, including Global Trade requirements Act as the Airworthiness engineering representative for Landing Gear, which comprises the Airbus Design Assurance Coordinator (DAC), with the following responsibilities: Documentation - Creation, updating, maintenance, audit and communication relative to the LG Design Organization Interface Document (DOID), Authorized signatory list, Airbus Design Organization Manual. Monitoring and Surveillance - Facilitate assessment and monitoring (audits, sample checks, and reviews) by Airbus, Transport Canada, and the Aviation Authorities within Landing Gear and within its design suppliers as applicable. Monitor the LG organization for correct application of agreed procedures in DOID. Coordinate internal required quality audits and design supplier audits. Continuous Improvement: Ensure compliance with LG Engineering methodologies Re-engineer processes and methods to ensure that company objectives in the areas of cost, efficiency, and quality are met Leads and supports overall organizational objectives identified in Policy Deployment May be asked to complete other tasks based on skills and qualifications. Occasional travel between customer/suppliers and Collins Aerospace locations. Long term assignments may be required during the joint definition phases for new programs. Support RTX and Landing Systems cultural initiatives through use of the CORE Operating System. Perform other duties as required. Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires: A University Degree Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or equivalent experience and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience Experience in Landing Gear design/development/support for transport and/or military type aircraft Experience in leading a team of engineers Project management experience in managing large projects, developing staffing plans and generation/management of program Engineering budgets Eligible to Work in Canada; Successful candidates must meet all requirements under CCGP Qualifications We Prefer Strong and demonstrated communication skills.
