Metrolinx is connecting communities across the Greater Golden Horseshoe. Metrolinx operates GO Transit and UP Express, as well as the PRESTO fare payment system. Our Revenue & Treasury Office is looking for a Supervisor, Treasury Room to provide leadership in the operation of the Treasury Room, the management of the armored car contract in order to ensure effective and efficient scheduling of pick-ups and equipment requirements supporting the goal of all supported ticket vending machines being in-service 99 precent of the time. To provide technical expertise to implement financial systems solutions and streamline operations through involvement in key strategic projects affecting the team.
Term: 14 months contract
What will I be doing?
Drives innovation by reviewing and analyzing processes to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
Initiates business recommendations to drive business process improvements and operational efficiencies; conducts impact assessments and reviews processes after implementation of changes.
Identifies opportunities for changes to improve operational accuracy and efficiency; develops business cases, recommendations, and change notices.
Reviews design plans to ensure alignment to business requirements.
Manages a satellite location with employees of a fortified Treasury Room that houses all bank notes/coins collected from operations.
Manages the distribution of floats needed for self-serve machines and manned wickets and the deposit of bank notes to the bank.
Manages the collection and processing of monies and data from the self-serve channels such TVM, AVM, FMVD, etc.
Manages the Armored Car contract that collects from the various ticketing devices.
Works closely with all stakeholders (e.g., cross functional teams, external partners, and vendors) to establishes, maintains, and strengthens relationships with external vendors and clients, build cross-functional relationships and liaise with internal departments regarding operational issues or improvements.
Develops and maintains sectional budget, ensures adherence to budget constraints, analyzes variances, scrutinizes expenditures, and approves payments and takes appropriate action to ensure budget is at or under plan.
Manages the Treasury room and Treasury officers including day to day operations, training, and development of staff.
What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
Completion of a degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent.
Demonstrated years of experience as a financial systems business analyst or similar position.
Nice to have: Experience leading and coaching a team, including the application of collective agreement provisions.
Budget management to plan and monitor departmental budgets against limitations.
Interpersonal and oral/written/presentation skills to liaise with all levels within the organization; to work effectively with specialists across multiple sectors.
Project management skills, including work planning, monitoring and evaluation expertise, to manage multiple projects with competing priorities and tight deadlines.
Knowledge of performance analytics to monitor project performance and quality and to collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
Proven leadership, interpersonal and mentoring skills with the ability to clearly articulate creative ideas and direction to staff.
Proficiency in MS Office (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and Treasury systems with especially strong MS Excel skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills to define operational and finance system impacts resulting from new or modified processes.
Strong interpersonal and oral/written communication skills to facilitate meetings, review updates to workflow documents, procedures, and policies, and establish cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
