Job Description: Specific Duties and Responsibilities: Operational – Assists in orientation of new personnel and new residents/families. Utilizes the Home’s resources, such as supplies and equipment, economically and safely. Helps to identify equipment needs and may be involved in evaluating trial equipment. Works collaboratively with the RN and other members of the team in all aspects of resident care per scope of practice. Supports approaches to care that optimizes resident choices and abilities. Nursing Care Responsibilities – Utilizes the nursing process, within established scope of practice, in providing holistic resident service. Assessment: Observes, collects, records & reports information regarding the resident. Administers appropriate test, procedures & treatments within established scope of practice standards. Planning: Participates in care planning Organizes clinical workload for the care team on assigned unit, and sets priorities for carrying out work Implementation: Participates in direct resident care as established in care plan. Applies interventions within established scope of practice standards Supports resident independence, safety, dignity and comfort Documents the resident’s care according to established policies and procedures Provides leadership, guidance and assistance to the resident attendant in completion of activities of daily living Seeks guidance and direction when required Evaluation: Participates in evaluation care by observing, reporting, and recording resident responses and participating in care conferences and multidisciplinary reviews. Participates in providing emotional support to residents and families throughout their stay at Lakeview Manor. Organizational Responsibilities: Demonstrates knowledge of, and conducts work in the manner consistent with, Lakeview Manor’s: philosophy, mission, policies and procedures; Participates in LVM’s continuous quality improvement initiatives to improve resident, staff, department and facility performance outcomes; Utilizes the facility’s resources, such as supplies and equipment, economically and safely; Maintains resident confidentiality and respects the resident’s right to privacy; Participates in department meetings; attends in-service programs, staff and committee meetings. Supports student training/practicums as indicated. Individual Responsibilities: Maintains knowledge of, and applies, policies and procedures, the Fire and Disaster Plan, the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) & Safe Resident Handling (ATRM) programs, and any other site programs; Practices all safety and infection control rules and regulations, and observes personal hygiene; Reports need of repairs to supervisor, or informs Maintenance personnel using the approved communication tools; Has a thorough knowledge of, and is able to demonstrate, the safe use and care of supplies and assigned equipment required in the provision of resident care; Provides a comfortable, safe and clean environment for residents, volunteers, visitors and fellow staff; Adheres to WorkSafe NB Acts & Regulations in all duties; Maintains professional and personal development through participation in continuous education programs, in-services and other initiatives. Demonstrates healthy/constructive/respectful communication to support positive team culture. Qualifications: High school graduation or equivalent plus successful completion of a two year Practical Nursing course through NBCC or equivalency. Active registration in the Association of New Brunswick Licensed Practical Nurses, or eligible for registration in New Brunswick required. Good attendance record. Ability to work in team setting and take direction. Good communication and interpersonal skills; able to follow verbal and written instructions in English. Experience in LTC is an asset. Position does not have guaranteed hours. Related and allied duties will be assigned from time to time as may become necessary to the operation of the facility. Compensation: The target hiring range for this position is $32.44 to $33.52 with a maximum of $34.59. Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
