Centrica Power is a leading energy infrastructure company in the UK and Irish market with energy assets across conventional and flexible generation, renewable energy, energy storage and nuclear. Our nuclear portfolio, is ~ 6GW and our share is 20% ~ 1.2 GW. At Present, there is 1 PWR reactor and ~4 AGR. For the rest of our Power portfolio, across the UK & Ireland, we have c.£2bn gross capital deployed, over 600MW in operation and a further 500MW in construction. The vision is to be a world leading flexible power asset business that energises a greener, fairer future and delivers material growth for the Centrica Group and in turn, superior shareholder returns. This is coupled with aspirations to spend close to £3.bn over the next 5 years, in aid of Centrica’s green investment growth strategy and continuing to build a Power business unit of materiality and significance in Centrica’s overall growth plan. As such, we believe nuclear will play a fundamental role in Centrica’s overall investment ambitions. Therefore, we are looking for a world-class Nuclear Director who will form part of the Centrica Power Leadership Team and provide end to end (strategic, operational, technical and financial) leadership to our business. The Nuclear Director will be responsible for further shaping and delivering our strategic expansion into the Nuclear sector. This is a pivotal role at an exciting time as you will be responsible for providing strategic leadership on a high-value programme in a regulated and fast-paced environment. The role can be located out of any of our UK and Ireland offices with a requirement to travel to other offices, operational sites and stakeholder locations. Key Accountabilities: Core Business Leadership Financial Management - You will be responsible for overseeing the financial operations of our nuclear business, strategic budgeting, and cost-effective management to drive sustainable growth and profitability. This includes full ownership of the Nuclear P&L, efficiency and positive commercial outcomes, in addition to oversight of drivers directly controlled by Centrica (e.g. hedging policy) and indirectly (e.g. using influence to challenge budgets/performance/investment prioritisation) Compliance - An uncompromising commitment to safety and compliance, understanding the complexities of the market. The role is responsible for the safe, sustainable, and efficient delivery of a large and significant income stream, in a highly regulated sector. This is in addition to alignment of the UK energy ecosystem, government and regulatory frameworks, and therefore translating complex technical concepts into compelling business cases Operational Optimisation - Continual focus on optimisation across both operational and commercial sectors, including early identification and resolution of all Nuclear related issues including performance and risk Stakeholder Management (Internal & External) - Create and maintain strong relationships with influential stakeholders across the nuclear industry. Internally, across the Centrica Group, develop solid relationships with key internal stakeholders to drive performance improvement, to ensure appropriate support and delivery on all nuclear activity, as well as utilising specialist resource where required Business Leadership - Full oversight and co-ordination of all nuclear activities within Centrica, utilising specialist resource from around the business as appropriate. Strategic Business Development Strategy Development - Design the growth strategy for the Nuclear business by identifying new opportunities across the nuclear spectrum, providing technical leadership/ expertise on due diligence and instigating and validating future investments Strategic Partnerships - Establish and nurture key strategic partnerships with other key players in the sector, exploring high-value opportunities. As part of this role you will identify, develop, and manage strategic commercial partnerships/ opportunities in the nuclear and landscape Commercial Leadership - Lead and drive the commercial considerations of nuclear investments, liaising with other functional experts to ensure company relationships are de-risked, financially valuable, and deliver the right economic outcome Culture Development - Leadership advocacy for developing a high performing culture, including Centrica’s key behaviours of encouraging a culture of one team, ownership and growth mindset, inspiring and motivating the wider team to achieve outstanding results. Here’s what we’re looking for: Collaborative and experienced major project leader with a strong background in delivering complex infrastructure projects—ideally involving significant civil engineering, MEICA, or related sector experience Significant experience in senior leadership roles in engineering and technical disciplines, including large-scale programmes in regulated sectors Strong knowledge and understanding of the nuclear sector Exemplary health and safety standards Highly delivery focused, ability to meet emerging and future business needs, to deliver value and technical discipline Ability to manage ambiguity, complexity and conflicting demands. Strong understanding of multidisciplinary integration and project governance Sound commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets effectively Evidence of applying a commercial mindset to an operational environment Confident communicator and relationship-builder with strong influencing skills Demonstrable experience of applying a growth mindset to deliver significant and sustainable improvements in business performance, and revenue enhancement Ability to operate and drive opportunities to work as ‘one team’ with the broader Centrica Group, establishing clear ‘ownership’ Evidence of embracing technology as an enabler to maximise value from assets and drive robust data management.
