The Department of Medical Imaging at St. Michael’s Hospital (SMH) and the University of Toronto are recruiting a full-time, fellowship-trained, academic Interventional Radiologist. The successful candidate will be assigned an academic position description based on their teaching or research strengths and must be eligible for a full-time clinical academic appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2026, or shortly thereafter.
SMH is a member of the Unity Health Toronto network and is a busy, 463-bed quaternary care academic centre, and one of four principal teaching hospitals of the University of Toronto. In this role, the successful candidate will perform all types of vascular and non-vascular Interventional Radiology (IR) procedures, and participate fully in the supervision, processing and interpretation of all vascular CT and MRI studies. This role may also offer the opportunity to interpret all other types of diagnostic radiology studies (X-ray, ultrasound, CT and MRI). The position includes a significant opportunity for advancement in clinical leadership and research in IR, both at the University of Toronto and at SMH.
The successful applicant must hold an MD degree, or equivalent and will have completed residency training in Diagnostic Radiology and fellowship training in Interventional Radiology, or an accredited Interventional Radiology residency. Preference will be given to those with academic IR leadership experience, and/or interventional radiologists with additional diagnostic radiology fellowship training. The successful candidate will join the Division of Interventional Radiology in the Department of Medical Imaging at SMH, and participate in the acute on-call roster covering Interventional Radiology. They will be expected to participate in radiology resident rounds and in multi-disciplinary team meetings/rounds. They will supervise trainees at the undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate levels including the dedicated clinical IR fellowship program at SMH each year. They must be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with the candidate's qualifications and experience. The estimated income range will be $400,000 to $600,000 per annum for a full-time equivalent, with opportunity for increased salary commensurate with experience and academic credentials.

There are 3 dedicated IR suites and 2 dedicated neurointerventional suites, 9 ultrasound units, 3 CT scanners, and 4 MRI scanners at SMH. There are short-term growth plans for an additional 1 CT and 1 MRI scanner at SMH. SMH also has a day unit in Medical Imaging dedicated for IR patients.
The hospital houses the Li Ka Shing Knowledge Institute and the Keenan Research Centre that provides excellent research support and affords many opportunities for radiologists to engage in inter-departmental, collaborative translational research in Medical Imaging. There are significant resources in support of the Department of Medical Imaging’s internationally recognized AI research work.
