In this role, you will provide expert legal guidance on a broad range of commercial transactions and contracts, collaborating closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Go-To-Market teams. You’ll help shape operational processes, manage risk, and advise on data privacy, intellectual property, and licensing. Accountabilities:
- Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including service agreements, SaaS contracts, NDAs, and software licenses.
- Advise on matters related to intellectual property, data privacy (GDPR, CCPA), data security, and go-to-market strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize deal structures and support strategic partnerships.
- Develop scalable legal processes, policies, and templates that improve team efficiency.
- Stay current on industry laws and regulations to provide sound legal advice.
- Offer practical, business-oriented counsel to teams with minimal supervision.
- Contribute legal insight to areas of regulatory relevance, including financial services, healthcare, and AI training data usage.
Requirements
- Law degree from an accredited institution and eligibility to practice in-house.
- Minimum 6 years of post-qualification legal experience in commercial transactions, including SaaS, IP licensing, vendor agreements, and enterprise sales.
- In-house legal experience in the tech sector is highly preferred.
- Strong negotiation skills with data processing agreements; working knowledge of GDPR and CCPA.
- Clear, concise communicator able to translate legal terms for non-lawyers.
- Familiarity with cloud services, software contracts, and sales operations.
- Proven ability to manage competing deadlines in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.
Bonus: understanding of legal implications of AI model training data.
