Senior Full-Stack Developer – Java/React, Azure Cloud –
Contribute to cutting-edge software solutions in the insurance industry through a strategic, full-stack engineering role. This hybrid position (Toronto or Waterloo) combines Java, JavaScript, Azure AKS, and IBM WebSphere in an Agile (SAFe) environment. 1-year contract with high potential for extension or conversion.

Responsibilities:
• Design, code, unit test, and integrate new features and functionality as defined by product stakeholders.
• Apply creative problem-solving to bring innovative software designs to life.
• Promote and apply Agile (SAFe) principles in daily development activities.
• Develop and maintain automated test coverage to ensure software quality.
• Conduct technical “spikes” to mitigate risk and clarify design direction.
• Update progress and tasks daily using Jira and Kanban boards.
• Assist in refining product backlogs and provide initial effort estimates.
• Support production releases, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to post-deployment maintenance.
• Create technical documentation for deployment, maintenance, and support needs.
• Mentor junior developers and contribute to skill development within the team.
What you will need to succeed:
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field—or equivalent work experience.
• 10+ years of back-end development experience.
• Proficiency in Java/J2EE and JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of SOAP and RESTful APIs.
• Hands-on experience with IBM WebSphere and HCL Digital Experience.
• Familiarity with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Core Spring frameworks.
• Experience deploying services on Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Database development experience using Oracle.
• Proficiency with GitHub for source control.
• Experience using Jira and Confluence for agile task and content management.
• Familiarity with Jenkins, Maven, Snyk, and SonarQube for DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience in regulated environments with a strong understanding of compliance and risk management.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering managers, product partners, QA engineers, and business analysts in a globally distributed environment.
• Experience in innovation/ideation sessions and digital solution brainstorming.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
