Reports To: School Principal
Job Purpose:
John N.A. Janvier School is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Janitor to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily cleaning of the school facilities, ensuring high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all areas of the building.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Clean and sanitize classrooms daily, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and wiping down desks and surfaces
Clean and restock all student and staff bathrooms
Maintain cleanliness of the staff room, teacher workspaces, gymnasium, and common areas
Empty garbage and recycling bins regularly throughout the school
Monitor and replenish cleaning supplies and notify the supervisor when supplies are low
Support large events and school functions with setup, takedown, and post-event cleaning (additional help will be provided)
Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or needed repairs to the supervisor
Secure the school building after hours as required
Follow all safety protocols and cleaning standards as directed by school policies
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Working Conditions and/or Physical Requirements:
All overtime hours must be pre-approved by the supervisor
The janitor must have access to a working vehicle and a cell phone
Occasional flexibility in schedule may be required to accommodate school events
Salary:
Commensurate with qualifications and experience.
