Meaty Eats is a specialty retailer focusing on Fresh Organic Meats and Charcuterie, as well as in-house Prepared Foods. We operate two locations in the GTA, focusing on customer experience.
In support of the Food Service and Culinary Manager, Chefs play a critical part in delivering our food service and culinary programs. Through the preparation of various cooked, cured, pickled, and prepared items, they help us achieve our mission to be the trusted choice for value-added meat products in the GTA.
A background in food service or hospitality with 2-3 years of experience working in a commercial/production kitchen or similar environment, a sincere respect for food, and commitment to the highest food safety and quality standards will prove pivotal in the fulfillment of their duties.
Main Duties
Plan, implement, and manage daily operations
Prepare daily offerings & suggest new offerings
Understand visitors' preferences and make suggestions based on findings
Prepare a wide variety of Top Tier goods such as cakes, pastries, ice cream, pies, breads
Decorate pastries using advanced & unique methods so that they are appealing to the eye
Monitor supplies and ingredients necessary for daily operations
Check the quality of the material and the condition of the equipment
Train, guide, and motivate assistants
Maintain a clean cooking station
Adhere to health and safety standards
Keep abreast with the latest food and industry trends
Help train retail store associates on products, including talking points, to assist in delivering a world-class shopping experience.
Other duties as required.
Requirements
Previous working experience as a Pastry Chef / Baker for 4+ years
Kitchen experience is a bonus
Certificate in culinary arts or a similar relevant field
In-depth knowledge of sanitation principles
Complete knowledge of baking with ingredient limitations (pastries that are gluten-free, sugarless, etc.)
Physically capable of being on foot for an entire shift and can lift 50lbs
