Then, watch for a unique link in your email to apply. The Director, Compliance Operations position reports to the VP, Compliance Operations. The primary focus of the role is the enhancement and management of the regulatory compliance monitoring program related to the administration of OMERS Pension Plans. This role requires familiarity with defined benefit pension plan structures as well as the Pensions Benefits Act and Income Tax Act requirements. Additionally, the Director plays a key role in our broader compliance activities as part of the Compliance Operations team, supporting key operational activities and projects. We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. Our hybrid work guideline requires teams to come to the office a minimum of 4 days per week. 2. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES Further develop and manage the pension regulatory compliance monitoring program by collaborating with key partners to coordinate monitoring and testing activities and deliver independent review and challenge to form relevant compliance insights. Stay up to date on pension plan governance and legal and regulatory requirements to promote compliance best practices. Maintain up-to-date knowledge and understanding of OMERS Pension Services organizational processes and how they enable related regulatory compliance. Provide coaching and day-to-day direction in monitoring and testing of various compliance activities and processes across the broader compliance program that provides insights and continued improvement and development of our programs. Provide expertise, recommendations and, where appropriate, resolve questions or issues relating to compliance monitoring requirements and processes. Develop pension compliance reports and related communications for senior management and the board. Manage and routinely review existing pension compliance deliverables to identify areas of opportunity and make recommendations for further development. Collaborate with colleagues from across the organization to reach strategic objectives. Serve as a liaison between key stakeholders including the Pension Services, Pension Legal and Compliance teams to receive feedback and support issue resolution. QUALIFICATIONS 10 years of relevant experience in regulatory compliance, pension administration or similar functions. University degree or college program graduate in an analytical discipline. Actuarial science or pension legal experience is desirable. Advanced critical thinking skills with a solution-oriented and practical mindset. Initiative-taker and comfortable working both collaboratively as well as independently. Professional, client-focused approach to colleagues and assignments. Strong people skills with an ability to work effectively across multiple teams within the organization. Able to deal with changing priorities and leverage effective time management. Independently prioritizes work and able to accomplish multiple tasks within established timelines. The ability to conduct effective meetings, author and deliver presentations and briefings through well organized and thoughtful communication materials, appropriately targeting audiences at various levels in the organization. Demonstrated ability to plan strategically by using sound judgement, considering potential impacts, and monitoring progress using effective controls and success criteria. Must be highly organized with a demonstrated ability to map and analyze business processes and identify opportunities for improvement that align with compliance management objectives. Technical Knowledge and Skills: Intermediate to advanced user of Excel with ability to translate data into meaningful reporting with insights. Intermediate level user of SharePoint, Word, and PowerPoint. Intermediate to advanced user of Asana for workload and project management would be an asset; and Experience with PowerBI or other data visualization platforms would be an asset.
