KITCO Fiber Optics is seeking skilled and motivated Field Services Technicians to join our Technical Services team in Norfolk, VA. In this role, you will perform fiber optic termination, testing, troubleshooting, blown fiber installation/removal, and splicing support across a variety of shipboard systems and vessel classes. Key Responsibilities Terminate, test, and troubleshoot fiber optic cable assemblies Install and remove blown optical fiber systems Perform splicing and support tasks on shipboard fiber optic networks Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and work item instructions Operate optical test equipment to verify cable performance Document test and inspection results in accordance with customer requirements Maintain and calibrate termination and test equipment Work in shipboard environments including confined spaces, heights, and varying temperatures Travel domestically and internationally as needed Perform other duties and tasks as assigned to support business Basic Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or industrial school certificate preferred Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense SECRET clearance Must pass drug screening, physical exam, and background check for access to Navy installations Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid U.S. passport. Willingness to travel, including overseas assignments Must be available to work overtime as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on business demands. Must be available for on-call emergency tasks Preferred Qualifications 3–5 years of practical shipboard experience Background in electronics or fiber optics (Navy IC/ET/AT/EM rates or trade school graduate) NAVSEA fiber optic certification or ability to quickly certify per Navy Standard Item 009-73 and MIL-STD-2042 Experience installing, terminating, and inspecting fiber optic cable assemblies onboard U.S. Navy ships Proficiency with optical test equipment and interpreting customer wiring lists Ability to troubleshoot and repair cable assemblies to meet military standards Strong documentation skills for maintaining inspection and test records Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, stretch, reach, squat, and twist for extended periods Capable of lifting, carrying, and transporting equipment and boxes weighing 30 lbs or more Comfortable working on ladders, in confined spaces, and aboard ships in industrial environments Must be able to work in conditions involving heat, humidity, noise, and exposure to dust or dirt Able to work aloft or over the sides of vessels when required Benefits We are committed to supporting our employees with a competitive and well-rounded benefits package our offerings include: Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) retirement plan with company match Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) and paid holidays Short-term and long-term disability (STD/LTD) coverage Life insurance Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Tuition reimbursement Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) Employee discounts and more!
