Veterinary Receptionist Location: Victoria, BC Central Victoria Animal Hospital is looking for a full-time Reception, Client Services Representative to join our team. This is an exceptional opportunity for an organized, motivated, and empathetic individual to join us in a very important support role for the entire hospital. In this role, you will help our clients and their pets feel welcomed and cared for while coordinating between them and members of the medical team. Previous experience in a veterinary clinic is preferred but not required. The ideal candidate will have administrative experience, possess good computer skills (or a willingness to learn), a love of pets and their people, and a positive attitude. Familiarity with cash handling would be considered an asset as well as excellent customer service skills; you will be the first point of contact for our clients walking through the door and the last point of contact as they leave. Schedule: This position is full-time with a rotating schedule. Shifts for this role are 8 hours and may include daytime, evening and weekend work (including some holidays). We are open 7 days per week. Key responsibilities: Create a warm and welcoming environment for our patients and pet parents; greet or acknowledge them upon arrival Answer multi-line phone system and direct calls appropriately Collect client and pet information for medical records Check emails; respond or redirect messages appropriately Admit and discharge pet patients Process insurance claims and payments from clients General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of work area and common areas Key attributes: Exceptional client service skills Compassion and nurturing attitude Take initiative and work independently Ability to remain calm in stressful situations Ability to adapt in changing situations Efficient in carrying out assignments independently Takes initiative to complete tasks throughout the day Willingness to learn more regarding; veterinary services, updated medical office procedures and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks A Veterinary Assistant (VA) or Veterinary Assistant Office Administration (VAOA) program certificate is an asset A love for all companion animals!! Compensation: $17.85 to $25.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
