Experienced Veterinary Receptionist Location: Vancouver, BC Vancouver Animal Emergency and Referral Centre (VAERC) is welcoming an exceptionally organized multitasker for a full-time Veterinary Receptionist role. We are a small animal, specialty referral (Critical Care, Radiology, Surgery, Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Ophthalmology & Oncology) and 24-hour emergency practice with a diverse and skilled team. Position Overview The role is to strengthen the client, animal, veterinary bond through exceptional client service and education. Your role is vital to the success of our hospital! You are the first and last point of client contact and can leave a lasting impression by building trust and loyalty with our clients. Your responsibility is to enhance the client’s experience by coordinating between clients and members of the medical team. Your primary goal is to ensure that clients and their pets feel welcomed, expertly cared for, and appreciated. As a 24-hr facility, shifts will include daytime, evening and weekend rotations. Desired Attributes and Requirements: 1-2+ years of experience as a receptionist in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter. We are seeking candidates with previous veterinary experience. As the ideal candidate, you are mature, reliable, organized, and self-aware. Professional verbal and written communication skills Strong command of veterinary terminology, common veterinary medical conditions/emergencies, and veterinary “shorthand” Exceptional client service skills Empathetic, collaborative, and positive attitude Ability to work without direct supervision and to complete tasks/assignments independently Above-average time management skills Good understanding of the functions of practice management software and electronic medical records. (VCA uses proprietary practice management software, and training is provided) Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, Adobe) Accuracy in basic math skills. Previous knowledge of Moneris POS terminals/cash handling is an asset Basic knowledge of office electronics – multi-line phone systems, iPads, photocopiers, printers Strong attention to detail & accuracy when recording/relaying information Compensation: $18.00 to $25.00 per hour. The hourly rate range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. It may vary depending on the work location of the successful candidate or other factors.
