We are currently seeking a Recruiter to join our People team for a 3-month contract. The purpose of this position is to provide recruitment support for the Talent team: assisting managers with the requisition process; posting internal/external job openings including consulting with hiring managers to ensure candidate specifications are clear and appropriate, drafting compelling copy for advertisement, identifying potentially valuable and productive job boards/partnerships to further explore; screening applicants; coordinating interviews; preparing interview materials; drafting and sending out offer letters; processing and submitting relevant paperwork to payroll.
What is this position responsible for?
Provides recruitment and selection services which may include:
Consulting with hiring managers to ensure candidate specifications are clear and appropriate;
Posting job opportunities on People’s electronic applicant tracking system (Jobvite) and all relevant external websites;
Providing assistance to clients experiencing difficulties with the system / application process;
Responsible for meeting with new employees on their start date to document all relevant new hire forms on a weekly basis;
Notifying hiring managers of available applications for review and following up on next steps i.e. short list of qualified candidates as required;
Scheduling interviews, processing criminal and employment reference checks, and drafting employment offers;
Greeting and escorting candidates to SVR for interviews;
Preparing new hire document package and distributing “no thank you letters”;
Archiving and destroying closed competition files.
Proposes improvement to policies and procedures to enhance the effectiveness of People services and operations and if required, prepares/presents supporting evidence;
Collaborates with the Talent team on special projects.
Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
What are we looking for?
Post-secondary school diploma/degree; certificate in Human Resources or related relevant experience.
A minimum of 2 years’ recent experience in an administrative support role, some exposure to recruitment and selection activities and practices, preferably in a unionized environment or not-for-profit sector.
Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment and selection processes and procedures.
Demonstrated effective organization and prioritization skills.
Ability to work independently, determine priorities while performing a variety of different responsibilities with conflicting deadlines, particularly to determine the importance and urgency of issues and respond effectively to fluctuating work load demands in a fast paced environment.
Proficiency with various computer systems and software programs including: database management, word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, scheduling, e-mail and web-based applications, as well as with on-line applicant tracking system and selection applications.
Detail oriented to proof-read important/confidential documents;
Demonstrated written and oral communication and customer service skills including tact and diplomacy to appropriately respond to clients/customers.
Problem solving and analytical skills to determine effective ways to present correspondence, reports, charts, tables and presentations.
