The City of Edmonton is looking for a dedicated Landscape Technician I to play a vital role in our Urban Forestry team, specifically overseeing our critical tree watering program. What will you do?
Visit sites to collect base decision tree information, tree species, size, and condition
Work with the Landscape Technician II to oversee the tree watering program
Complete site visits and inspections on contractors work
Tracking water truck daily work plans
Documentation of water truck accomplishments
Providing feedback to water truck contractors for mid and end season evaluations
Coordination of hydrant use for the Urban Forestry team with EPCOR
Provide necessary customer service to address citizen concerns via SAP
Update procedures manual and SOPs
Completion of a 2 year technology diploma with arboricultural emphasis or a related field alongside 2 years’ experience in landscape construction, contract/specification writing and interpretation or related experience OR
Journeyman Landscape Horticulturist alongside 2 years experience in landscape construction
Assets:
ISA Certified Arborist
TRAQ (Tree Risk Assessment Qualification)
Skills required for success:
Contract or Staff supervision experience
Landscaping experience
Good understanding of computer programs, google sheets, docs and GIS
Working knowledge of arboriculture techniques and practices
Ability to deal effectively with the public
Ability to express decisions both orally and in writing
Strong organizational skills
Strong Multi tasking skills
Strong tree ID skills

Conditions of Employment:
Valid Alberta Class 5 driver's licence (or provincial equivalent). Obtaining and maintaining a City Driver's permit is a requirement of this position

The weekly hours of work for this position are currently under review and may change at a future time. Any changes will be made in accordance with the City of Edmonton/Civic Service Union 52 collective agreement and the incumbent will be notified in advance.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week
Salary Range: $33.316 - $41.847 (Hourly); $69,563.810 - $87,376.540 (Annually)
