The Opportunity The Operations Support team focuses on the technical development and qualifications for Canada Gas Operations’ (CGO) Technicians and Leaders. Our goal is to ensure that our assets are maintained and operated by field personnel that are competent, qualified, and supported by effective programs and continuous improvement. As the Senior Business Analyst, Technician Competency & Development, you will build a deep understanding of CGO programs and collaborate across CGO teams and with other internal stakeholder groups to improve the way in which we develop and qualify our technicians and front-line leaders. Ensuring Operations programs are managed effectively, the successful candidate will apply a risk-based analytical approach to program analysis, development and sustainment. With support from the Operations Support and Business Planning team, the successful candidate will ensure that our technical competency and development programs are fit-for-purpose, and that our employees’ time is optimized, with appropriate access to competency and training plans and information that empower self-advocacy and professional development. What you’ll do Lead ongoing assessment of the quality and effectiveness of current technician competency programs versus existing or future operational risks and/or changing standards (e.g. operational integrity; occupational and process safety; environment) Lead collaboration with subject matter experts (SMEs) and key stakeholders in Safety and Technical Services (STS) and Corporate Services to improve the quality of programs and ensure treatments are commensurate with the level of risk and are impact-assessed Engage with the Operations Support and Business Planning Qualification Analyst and other SMEs to understand and ensure alignment between Technicians’ performance criteria and any identified (or proposed) competency or training solutions Support ongoing execution of CGO’s Technician Competency Roadmap and other strategic initiatives where appropriate Leverage corporate management system implementation of new requirements (TOMS Element 3) to support continuous improvement of CGO’s suite of competency and training assurance reporting Improve CGO’s proficiency and self-advocacy in the competency and development space by improving Technician and field-based Leader access to information Identify and recommend opportunities to leverage technology in support of safe and effective work-execution for our workforce Minimum Qualifications 8+ years of relevant work experience preferably in a regulated environment (ex. oil and gas; transportation; banking; healthcare) Post-Secondary Education in Education, Business, Communications or a related-field (relevant work experience will also be considered in-lieu of education) Preferred Qualifications Experience working collaboratively with a diverse set of teams Proficiency as a verbal and written communicator Ability to understand the needs of various business unit requirements and maintain advocacy for the progression of CGO’s operational excellence Strong understanding of adult learning principles, and the application of effective training and performance supports Analytical and strategic assessment acumen for performance risk and solution recommendations Exposure to the requirements of TC Energy’s corporate management system framework (TOMS) Experience with applications such as Microsoft Office Suit, SharePoint, Power BI and Co-Pilot Track-record of managing multiple priorities simultaneously Strong presentation skills About our business TC Energy is a leading energy infrastructure company in North America.
