We are seeking an experienced, hands-on Production Manager to oversee the production team, activities and schedules.

Here’s what you will do as our Production Manager:
Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Production Manager is responsible for optimizing production operations and ensuring adherence to quality standards. This involves maximizing resource utilization, identifying and implementing solutions for production bottlenecks, and overseeing all aspects to achieve or surpass efficiency and quality targets. The Production Manager plays a pivotal role in maintaining food safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) by ensuring facilities and processes comply with regulations. Additionally, the Production Manager gathers and reports data on raw materials, finished goods, and production issues to support continuous improvement.
Specific accountabilities of the Production Manager:
Oversee daily production activities, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion of production schedules. This role encompasses managing and directing the production team, ensuring operational efficiency, and maintaining the highest quality standards.
Develop and lead a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. Train, develop, coach, mentor and performance manage staff. Promote collaboration and cross-functional teamwork within the production department and across the Company.
Analyze production activities to maximize effectiveness and minimize cost. Track and analyze production KPIs (yield, waste, etc.) to identify and implement process enhancements for quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets to optimize production output. Monitor production and trigger corrective actions as needed.
Collaborate with production planning for material and labour needs. Monitor and adjust production schedules as needed. Ensure team alignment by communicating company policies, mission, and goals to staff.
Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of food safety and quality control programs. Develop and enforce work-safe procedures to meet OHS requirements, fostering a safety culture.
Liaise with maintenance to resolve equipment issues promptly. Attend/hold meetings across departments to address production, equipment, safety, and quality concerns.
Ensure all plant sanitation processes meet company and regulatory standards.
Play a pivotal role in upholding the company's commitment to food safety and premium quality products, ensuring customer satisfaction.
Ensure production scheduling adheres to stringent allergen handling procedures, minimizing contamination risks.
Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, and Maintenance to troubleshoot production issues and cultivate a culture of continuous quality improvement to ensure safe food production meeting SQF, Gluten-free, Organic, GMP, and Kosher standards.
Active management member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee. Drive a culture of safety, excellence, and accountability. Communicate and promote health and safety awareness to staff. Ensure compliance with Ontario Health and Safety Act and regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
Special projects as assigned for the overall benefit of the Company.
Essential qualifications:
University Degree or a College Diploma in Applied Science, Food Science or Manufacturing.
3-5 years of progressive experience as a Production Supervisor or in a similar role, in Food or Beverage manufacturing or pharmaceutical environment.
Proven supervisory abilities with a hands-on style and the ability to influence
Strong project management experience within manufacturing, including demonstrated ability to efficiently plan, organize, and manage complex, multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong knowledge and proven experience in production and labour scheduling, manufacturing processes, quality control, and safety regulations.
Proficiency in using MRP systems and Microsoft Office Suite. Ability to extract data from the system to create management reports.
Inventory management experience / knowledge.
Ability to lift and move products & materials as required for the role.
Relationship builder with excellent communication.
Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing conditions with attention to detail and accuracy. Strong sense of urgency.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
