Hiring Unit: Schulich School of Music - Graduate Program's Office Position Summary: Schulich School of Music Graduate Programs’ Office is seeking a 2 candidates for Student Grant Writing Assistant position. The candidates will provide assistance to current registered Music graduate students applying for funding. The candidates will review grant proposals and offer comments and feedback. This position is open to Schulich School of Music Doctoral students who are interested in developing their knowledge and skills in teaching and learning. The position will start August 15, 2025 until May 1, 2026. The number of hours per week will fluctuate given the number of requests and time of the year. The total number of hours combined will not exceed 100 hours total over the year. Primary Responsibilities The Student Grant Writing Assistant will provide support for activities such as: Review grant proposals in advance and prepare comments and feedback Hold one-on-one meetings and workshops with graduate students to read and review grant proposals Participating in training and relevant professional development activities as necessary Assist in the translation of Abstracts for the FRQ grant application process Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities Excellent oral, written, and visual communication and presentation skills in English and French Ability to manage and translate research data in and across both languages Research background in music studies Some awareness of research methodologies Teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills Strong organization and ability to prioritize Ability to work with Office 365 (e.g., Teams, Word) and Zoom Previous experience as a TA and/or research assistant Fluency in languages other than English is an asset Applicants who are selected for an interview may be required to provide up to three references, a short writing sample, and a note from their supervisors or advisors indicating that they support the candidate undertaking this work. Preference given to Doctoral students in the Schulich School of Music.
