Position Summary As a member of the North America Accounting Team, the GL accountant actively participates in the monthly close of the statutory and management general ledgers and assists in or prepares various monthly reports for customers. Key Responsibilities Generates and processes journal entries. Inter-company and balance sheet account reconciliations and participates in the global intercompany reconciliation process. Has daily transactional accounting responsibilities, includes but not limited to: recording daily intercompany billing and purchase transactions, recording daily inventory transactions, supporting monthly reconciliations with brand owners. Assists other team members with the completion of monthly Pernod Ricard reporting packages. Routine journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations. Performs reconciliation of inventory stocks at various locations. Monthly VAT filing and remittance requirements for tax reporting for several entities in group. Ad-hoc requests and special projects, as required. Required Skills & Abilities University degree in accounting/finance or related field · Canadian CPA designation – already obtained or at least in progress. 2-4 years accounting experience in a similar environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office, JD Edwards E1, Hubble (Insight software). Intermediate knowledge of processes, IFRS, and internal control compliance. Intermediate knowledge of integrated accounting systems (purchase orders, receipts, shipments, and reconciliations). Good communication skills both written and oral. Must demonstrate customer focus and the ability to work within a highly disciplined team. Functional Competencies - Reporting & Analysis: Analyses basic data in a reliable manner. Obtains accurate information, controls data, and produces timely basic financial reports. Uses reporting tools for basic data extraction and analysis. Comments main financial ratios and statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flows) and provides basic variance analysis. Communicates findings in an articulate manner. - Financial Accounting & Consolidation: Understands and correctly applies basic accounting principles and subsidiary policies and procedures. Uses the Chart of Accounts accurately (accounting transactions, account reconciliations). Assists in statutory closing related activities by ensuring all closing entries are posted and controls are performed. Provides clear explanations on documents delivered to financial stakeholders. - Tax Management: Demonstrates knowledge of local tax concepts and explains basic concepts to others. Analyses tax related data to control tax compliance. Understands the impacts and inter-relations of accounting principles and tax concepts. - Legal for Finance: Has a basic understanding of relevant laws and regulations within the scope of his/her role. Identifies legal issues and escalates as required to relevant experts · Informs / explains to other parties related issues. - Risk Management & Internal Control: Understands the key concepts of risk management (identification, assessment including frameworks, mitigation). Identifies basic business risks related to his/her job. Identifies inconsistency in basic internal controls (e.g.: accountability) of his/her scope. Understands and applies internal control procedures and basic control processes (e.g.: reconciliation, segregation of tasks) in his/her scope. - Cash Management & Financing: Knows key Finance and Treasury concepts (treasury management, banking services and conditions, balance sheet & cash-flow statement, key financial ratios). Understands KPIs for the Treasury processes (rotation ratio, Working Capital Needs…) and key drivers of operational cash flows. Understands and uses Pernod Ricard Tools (netting, cash pooling…) or local Treasury Tools (electronic Bank) · Understands the impact of business activities on cash flows. - Process & Information Systems: Understands and uses properly the standard functionalities of systems required in his/her working area.
