We are currently seeking a Senior Legal Counsel,
based in Ontario or Quebec, for the company's real estate division. The ideal candidate will have in-house or law firm experience in commercial real estate transactions, including real estate development, financing and leasing. They will advise the company and its affiliates on all aspects of commercial real estate transactions.
Responsabilities:
Draft and review legal documents, including letters of intent, offers to purchase, buy-sell agreements, financing contracts, partnership agreements and other related documents.
Provide legal advice to the various teams in the real estate division in connection with all types of real estate transactions.
Negotiate agreements and close transactions.
Participate in the resolution of certain disputes.
Propose and lead internal training activities.
Participate in the development of best practices and procedures designed to minimize the company's legal risks.
Coordinate the work of external legal advisors to ensure seamless delivery of legal services to the company.
What We’re Looking For:
Minimum 8 years' experience in real estate law.
Member of the Ontario Bar is required, an additional membership to the Quebec bar would be considered an asset.
Excellent knowledge of the practice area and an interest and curiosity in the real estate development and investment industry.
Good negotiation skills.
Ability to manage stress and priorities.
Demonstrate rigor, autonomy and initiative.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
