Who We Are
The College of Complementary Health Professionals of BC (CCHPBC, or the College) is located on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded lands of the x?m??k??y??m (Musqueam), S?wx?wú7mesh (Squamish), and s?lilw?ta? (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. The College regulates over 10,000 health professionals across British Columbia., including chiropractors, massage therapists, naturopathic physicians, and traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and acupuncturists.
Formed on June 28, 2024 through the amalgamation of four provincial health profession regulators, the College was established as part of the Ministry of Health’s initiative to modernize the health profession regulatory framework in B.C. Its primary role is to protect public health and safety by licensing and regulating health professionals and the settings in which they practice. This includes ensuring that every health professional within its purview is fully qualified to provide safe and ethical care.

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, and working closely with colleagues across departments, the Accountant will be responsible for a broad range of financial and accounting functions, including preparing financial statements, maintaining the general ledger, supporting payroll processing, coordinating audits, and contributing to budgeting and forecasting activities. This role also plays a key part in ensuring regulatory compliance, enhancing internal controls, and maintaining the integrity of financial data.
The Accountant provides critical support to the Manager, Finance, and may offer guidance to junior accounting staff as required. The role also involves collaboration with HR on payroll-related tasks and cross-functional support on financial systems and reporting.
Your expertise will help ensure accurate financial reporting, support effective financial planning and analysis, and contribute to a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. It is essential for all College staff to contribute to a team approach with a focus on public protection, and delivery of efficient services that align with and allow the College to meet its regulatory, strategic, and operational goals.
Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to)
Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
Reconcile bank accounts, investment accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
Process and review payroll transactions, ensuring compliance with tax laws and employment standards.
Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare related journal entries and reports (e.g., T4s, ROEs, benefit remittances).
Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation.
Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
Support the year-end audit process, including preparation of working papers and liaising with auditors.
Ensure compliance with accounting standard and other regulatory frameworks.
Review and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Provide mentorship and oversight to junior accounting staff.
Support financial system upgrades and implementation as needed.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support organizational financial needs.

Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Business Accounting or Finance; an appropriate combination of training and experience will be considered
CPA or its equivalents (or working towards completion) is considered an asset
Minimum 3+ years of related working experience
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency with accounting software (QuickBooks, or ERP systems) and Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
Advanced Excel skills and familiarity with data analysis tools.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

An individual who meets either the established formal qualifications or the accepted equivalency may be considered equally for this role.
Compensation and Perks
The compensation for this position ranges from $78,500 to $84,521 annually, based on a 37.5-hour work week. The starting salary will be determined by factors such as the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, the salaries of peers within the same range, market conditions, and other relevant considerations.
