Overview:
Pembina Pipeline Corporation’s Calgary office is actively hiring the Vice President, Marketing to join the team.
The Vice President, Marketing Business Unit (VP, MBU) reports to the SVP, Marketing & Strategy Officer and is a key member of Pembina’s Executive Committee. This role provides strategic leadership for the Marketing business, guiding its commercial direction and ensuring alignment with Pembina’s enterprise-wide goals.
Pembina undertakes value-added commodity marketing activities including buying and selling products (natural gas, ethane, propane, butane, condensate and crude oil) and capitalizing on arbitrage opportunities. By contracting capacity on Pembina's and various third-party pipelines and utilizing the Company's rail fleet and rail logistics capabilities, the Marketing business is able to add incremental value to commodities for Pembina and the WCSB. Marketing activities also include identifying commercial opportunities to further develop other Pembina assets.
As a senior leader, the VP, MBU plays a critical role in shaping corporate strategy, driving business performance, and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. The VP, MBU champions commercial growth by optimizing Pembina’s asset base across supply, marketing, and trading. They bring an enterprise-wide commercial mindset and provide a compelling, forward-looking vision to unlock and expand the value and potential of Pembina’s assets.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to:
Strategic and Commercial Leadership to Grow Pembina’s Business:
Lead the development and execution of marketing strategies across commodity value chains, optimizing asset utilization and market returns;
Provide insight into market development, new ventures, and acquisitions to support Pembina’s growth;
Identify and pursue new opportunities to expand Pembina’s market presence, revenue, and long-term value. Demonstrate commercial acumen and a strong bias for action to achieve sustainable growth;
Balance competing priorities across teams and assets to optimize enterprise outcomes;
Consider the interdependencies across teams, assets, and functions. Balancing competing priorities and optimizing outcomes for the entire organization, not just MBU;
Ensure the MBU organization has the commercial and analytical capabilities to deliver results; and
Oversee MBUs financial performance, including revenue, cost, and ROI.
Industry & Market Knowledge:
Apply deep knowledge of energy markets, value chains, and regulatory dynamics;
Anticipate trends in ESG, the energy transition, and market shifts; and
Identify and pursue high-value opportunities and partnerships.
Enterprise Contribution:
Drive commercial growth by identifying and capitalizing on opportunities across Pembina’s asset base;
Optimize value through the integrated oversight of supply, marketing, and trading activities;
Demonstrate a strong commercial mindset that influences decision-making across the enterprise;
Actively participate in corporate strategy development and enterprise risk management; and
Represent Pembina in internal and external forums, including the Board of Directors, industry associations, and key stakeholder engagements.

Education and Credentials
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economics, or a related field is required.
An MBA or other relevant graduate degree is strongly preferred; and
Executive education or certifications in leadership, strategy, or energy markets.
Experience
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in marketing, commercial strategy, or business development, ideally within the energy, infrastructure, or commodities sectors.
Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and delivering results in large organizations.
Experience managing P&L responsibilities and driving commercial outcomes across multiple product lines or business units.
Demonstrated success in developing and executing long-term strategic plans and navigating market cycles.
Ability to travel as required.
